About us
The Alliance for a Hunger Free New York is a collective of frontline anti-hunger advocates who provide direct food access across New York State. We were formed out of a partnership between The Food Pantries for the Capital District’s NYS Community Food Assistance Network and the Hunger Action Network of New York State. The Alliance is a collaborative effort of community-based food assistance providers and stakeholders to reduce food insecurity in New York State. We are a voice for community-based food assistance providers and our community members experiencing food insecurity.

I attended an incredibly inspiring and meaningful event this week. The graduation of the first Community Advocates Program participants, run by the Rotterdam Community Center, in partnership with Sycamore Collaborative with support from The Schenectady Foundation This program brought together an incredible group of humans and I was honored to share in their celebration. Through this innovative program, neighbors with lived experience of poverty and nutrition insecurity grew in their ability to share their stories and organize in their communities to change the unjust systems we all live in. The Alliance for a Hunger Free New York’s Peyton Y. was a part of this program and is looking forward to sharing this model with other people and organizations across the State. When Peyton was sharing a few words about their experience, the person sitting next to me said, “They give me hope for the future.” I feel the same way. Well done Rotterdam Community Center and Sycamore Collaborative! Rev. Dustin G. Longmire and Joe Paparone - you did this! Thank you for your commitment to our community.
