Our mission is to support ADSO member companies and their teams through research, education and advocacy.
About us
The Association of Dental Support Organizations (ADSO) is a non-profit organization comprised of more than 40 member companies and more than 100 industry partners. ADSO represents Dental Support Organizations (DSOs) before the public, policymakers and the media. Our members enable supported dentists to focus on their patients and expand access for dental care while maintaining the highest standards of business and professional ethics. Our members operate in 44 states and provide the highest level of non-clinical support to more than 13,000 dentists across the country as well as in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. DSO-supported dentists, on average, have lower startup costs for a new practice, spend more time on clinical care within their practice than their non-DSO supported counterparts, and offer more flexible office hours for their patients. ADSO is the source of information regarding the role DSOs play in the evolving dental services marketplace.

ADSO was thrilled to be able to attend the American Legislative Exchange Council Annual Meeting recently and meet with Kansas elected officials to discuss the 20% rule. Currently, the 20% rule in Kansas prevents dentists from owning more than five #dental practices by requiring #dentists to be in a practice they own at least 20% of the week. This outdated rule hinders expansion of #DentalCare throughout the state and should be overturned. We were joined by Janelle Shumaker of Hero Practice Services and were able to meet with Speaker Pro Tem Blake Carpenter and Senate President Ty Masterson to discuss this critical issue. Thanks for having us!

#ICYMI: Florida recently became the 21st state to enact universal licensure. This creates a less burdensome pathway for already licensed #dental professionals to relocate their practices to Florida. In turn, it will help alleviate workforce shortages and expand access to quality, affordable dental care for those living in dental deserts. Learn more about the importance of universal licensure here: https://lnkd.in/eE5eHEfK

ADSO was honored to participate in the recent joint Dental Assisting National Board/The DALE Foundation Annual Board Meeting. Welcome back to #DSO101, where we guide you through the basics on #DentalServiceOrganizations, or #DSOs, and what they do! DSOs typically have similar compensation models to private practice dental offices, and DSO dentists often have additional support to drive patient flow. There are several compensation structures: per diem, draw, percentage of production and percentage of collections. • Per-diem is a daily guaranteed minimum, meaning you get paid no matter who shows up in your schedule for the day and what procedures you do. Per diem may also be considered on an annual basis. • In a draw, the practice pays the associate in anticipation of future earnings. If the associate’s earnings for a paid period fall under the agreed draw amount, then the practice would cover the difference in the associate’s paycheck. Whatever extra the practice paid would then be deducted from the associate’s paycheck during the next pay period in which the income generated was above the draw amount. Most practices pay on percentage of production or collections. • A percentage of production means that you will be paid on your estimated procedures cost. • Being paid on collections means that you are paid once the insurance companies or patients pay for the procedures you performed.
