About us
The Broadway League is the national trade association for the Broadway industry. Our 700-plus members include theatre owners and operators, producers, presenters, and general managers in North American cities, as well as suppliers of goods and services to the commercial theatre industry. Each year, League members bring Broadway to more than 30 million people in New York and more than 200 cities across the U.S. and Canada. The League was born in 1930 when Broadway theatre operators came together to promote their common interests and negotiate collective bargaining agreements with theatrical unions and guilds. In subsequent years, the organization’s mission expanded to include serving the various needs of theatrical producers in New York and of national touring shows, as well as presenters of touring productions in cities throughout North America. Today the League is a full-service trade association dedicated to fostering increased interest in Broadway theatre and supporting the creation of profitable theatrical productions.

Meet Lisa Mitchell, Ed.D., Director of Education and Audience Engagement at Disney Theatrical Group in New York, NY, and Affiliate Member of the Broadway League. “The arts are what makes us human. And, unfortunately, we live in a world where not everyone has access to them. As Director of Education and Audience Engagement, my team and I take a production and deepen its impact in schools and communities across the U.S. and U.K. I believe this work is essential, not just from an access or human development point of view, but from a future of our industry point of view: to develop future storytellers, theatre makers, and audiences in tandem with our educational system. I can’t think of anything more powerful than that.” #MeetTheLeague

Meet Tammie Ward, Senior Director of Theatre Operations for The Shubert Organization, Associate Member of The Broadway League, and Co-Chair of our EDI Committee. “In Theatre Operations, my department serves as the hub for everything that happens once it’s decided which shows will go into our theatres. Our department helps shows get loaded in, helps to get the ticket programming built, make sure staff is properly trained—lots of other logistics for each theatre. We then share production information with our other operational teams so the Theatres operate efficiently, and our patrons have a true Broadway experience. Looking forward, I hope both the Theatrical workforce and the producers continue to find ways to make Broadway more accessible financially, culturally, and logistically. And I believe there is a way, one where our work is never one-sided but truly balanced, so that everyone—and I mean everyone—can enjoy Broadway.” – Tammie Ward, Senior Director of Theatre Operations #MeetTheLeague Visit careers.broadway to learn more about theatre operations positions on Broadway.
