We provide supportive services to people of all genders who have experienced domestic or sexual violence.

About us

The Center for Women and Families provides free services to people of all genders who have experienced intimate partner violence and sexual assault. We help our clients and their dependent children become survivors through trauma-informed advocacy. Our goal is to mitigate the impact of their trauma by reducing their risk factors and building their resiliency. We serve anyone in Jefferson, Bullitt, Spencer, Shelby, Oldham, Henry, and Trimble counties in Kentucky and Floyd and Clark counties in Indiana. The work is rewarding! When you choose to work at The Center for Women and Families you choose to join a team that is making a difference in the lives of a vulnerable population every day. We are an agency of warm, caring, and empathetic individuals driven by our desire to help others. We have advocates who answer our 24/7 crisis line, and we have advocates who assist clients and their children living in our 79-bed emergency shelter. We also have advocates who go to area hospital emergency rooms and court rooms to provide services to our clients. We value diversity and inclusion as a key to our success. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer, and our employees are people with different strengths, experiences, and backgrounds who share a passion for helping others. For us, diversity not only includes race and gender identify, but also age, disability status, veteran status, gender expression, sexual orientation, religion, and many other parts of one’s identity. We support an inclusive workplace where staff succeed based on personal merit, qualifications, experience, ability, and job performance. Anyone in need of our assistance can either call our 24/7 crisis line at 502-581-7222 or 812-944-6743 or walk-in to our Louisville location at 927 S. 2nd Street or our Southern Indiana location at 1301 Akers Ave in Jeffersonville (located behind Clark Memorial Hospital).

  • The Center for Women and Families extends a warm thank you to Headliners Music Hall and its general manager, Micah Wheat, for hosting the Summer of Soul Revue on Friday night, benefitting The Center for Women and Families! We also thank the artists who performed. They put on a fabulous show that was enjoyed by all who attended. This unique event and community partnership afforded The Center a wonderful opportunity to not only benefit from a portion of proceeds from the show but to also raise awareness about the critical programs and services we offer to help victims of intimate partner violence and sexual assault become survivors. It is only through working together that we can realize a day when this violence does not exist. Thank you for giving back to help make a difference in our community.
