Employee engagement is vital for any organization aiming to optimize performance and retain top talent. Employees having enthusiasm, dedication, and a connection to learn work is key to succeeding in their role. Companies that have higher rates of employee engagement have been proven to also generate 18% more in sales, are 14% more productive, and have 41% lower absenteeism rates. So, how can you begin to measure employee engagement? Recommended methods include:  - One on one interviews - Focus groups also known as "listening sessions" - Surveys - Stay and exit interviews - Check ins throughout the year By continuously assessing and addressing the drivers of engagement and disengagement, organizations can foster a motivated, empowered, and effective workforce, driving business success and sustainability. To learn more about how track engagement on your team, check out Kaela Sosa, CDE®'s latest article linked in the comments. #EmployeeEngagement #Productivity #TeamLeader

The most successful leaders embrace continuous growth. Leaders with a #GrowthMindset are better prepared to successfully address challenges, capitalize on new opportunities, and drive continuous improvement. A leader’s ability to make bold decisions, venture into uncharted territory, and embrace uncertainty is imperative for growth and innovation. Rekha Daniel-Kimani, Regional Director, Head of Total Rewards, DEIB and Strategic HR Growth Operations at BAYADA Home Health Care, emphasizes the importance of a growth mindset in helping her team become more resilient, adaptable, and focused on problem-solving. Find out what it means to be a truly growth-oriented leader in #TheInclusiveLeadershipHandbook. Head to the link in the comments to get your handbook today. #InclusiveLeadership

Someone who saw my June 18, 2024, post about The Inclusive Leadership Handbook by Donald Thompson, CDE® and Kurt Merriweather, CDE® asked that I let her know if I got any nuggets from it. I did, and there were more than a few [See photo below.], but, rather than publishing a book report about it, I'm going to share what resonated the most with me. I knew I was hooked when I read the following in Chapter 2, p. 18: ✔ "Inclusive management...is a guiding principle rooted in trust and collaboration." ✔ "Inclusive leaders cultivate trust by valuing individual perspectives and championing the growth of team members." ✔ "When transparency thrives, then the whole culture is enhanced." Trust is a word that is woven throughout the book: ✳ "Inclusive leaders understand that trust is the currency of collaboration..." (p. 71) ✳ "Strong teams operate within an environment of trust and accountability, neither of which is possible without authentic and transparent communication." (p. 75) ✳ "Leaders who embed inclusive practices into their foundational skill set create a ripple effect. Their teams, buoyed by a sense of belonging and trust, become engaged, innovative, and high-performing." (p. 89) ✳ "(Practicing these essential elements)--well-being, trust, resilience, empathy, equity, and belonging--the inclusive leader can create and build a sustainable organization... In a culture-centric workplace, employees understand how belonging makes them perform better together and how trust leads to new ideas." (p. 103) Trust is critical to me--your trust in me, and my trust in you. As you read in the quote above from page 75, trust requires authentic and transparent communication. Authenticity--are we being real with one another in what we say and do? I would say authenticity comes from your heart. The last lesson I'll touch on is the one about championing the growth of team members. Thompson and Merriweather aren't just talking about providing opportunities for growth. When you champion someone's growth, you let them know that you see them. You see their strengths, you see their potential, and, if they don't already, you help them see these things, too. This is why I love Girl Scouts of the USA, an inclusive Movement that champions girls' growth as leaders. (Which reminds me, while inclusive leadership lessons are universal, the focus of this book is on business outcomes. I'd be curious to know whether Thompson and Merriweather have researched the outcomes of inclusive leadership for nonprofits and, if so, what they learned.) There is a lot to digest in 105 pages, and that food for thought has me asking myself what ripple effects I want to create in the lives of others and in the life of any organization I serve. What inclusive leadership core competencies do I need to grow to, as we say in Girl Scouts, make the world a better place? #leadership #inclusivity #diversity #equity #belonging
