It's finally happening: the Love the Lagoon project is moving forward thanks to INCREDIBLY generous support from @David Mulicka at HONC DESTRUCTION INC! Step one of rehabilitating this classic IMAG exhibit is getting to it so we can refresh and rebuild. That's a big task all by itself, but the help from HONC is rising to the challenge! Did you know? IMAG will be presenting a special "Don't Try This At Home" show for the Lee County Library System's Summer Reading Program! We'll have several shows going on at different libraries throughout the summer, so don't miss out: come out and enjoy messy, hair-raising, explosive, freezing and dangerous shows! Watch us create colorful fireballs, ignite giant Whoosh Tubes, light bubbles on fire in our hands, erupt a giant bubbling Nitrogen cloud, make paint cans explode, create arcs of lightning with our Van de Graff Machine and more! Each show will be a unique mix of some of our craziest demonstrations! Find all of our Summer Reading Program appearances on ScienceNearMe.org, including our soonest show at https://lnkd.in/ebSjSssq. #myfortmyers #sciencenearme #summerreadingprogram #communitylove #liveshows #scienceshows #scienceeducation #homeschoolideas

Calling all scientists, tech experts, engineers, and mathematicians! This summer, we'll be hosting a STEM Career Camp at Camp IMAG to give our campers the opportunity to meet some amazing STEM professionals and learn more about their careers, and careers in STEM in general. If you're a professional in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics, we would love for you to come inspire our campers with a short presentation or meet-and-greet! Our STEM Career camp runs Monday through Friday, June 24-28 . We expect to have about 30 1st-2nd graders, 30 3rd-5th graders, and 15 middle school campers. We're happy to have them all gather together for one large presentation, or they can be addressed individually in their classrooms! The best times for these presentations are within the windows of 10am-noon and 1pm-3pm, though we can be flexible. We also have STEMLab, our satellite camp at Miromar Outlets - their version of STEM Career camp runs July 1-5 and they would love a presentation as well if possible! They will likely have about 10-15 campers, all 1st-5th graders. Please reach out to [email protected] if you're interested! #myfortmyers #callforspeakers #speakingopportunities #communitylove #topicalthursday #topicthursday

A little brown anole has more color than you'd expect: check out that dewlap! Dewlaps are a primary means of communication for anoles: these bright visual cues signal dominance, aggression, readiness to mate, and more, depending on the context. Spotted in the IMAG tortoise enclosures: what do YOU think this little guy was telling our tortoises? #myfortmyers #topicthursday #wildlifespotting
