Building connections in global markets 🌏 JAXPORT Director of Cargo Sales for the U.S. Southeast David Briceno recently traveled to Mumbai, India, to showcase the advantages of shipping cargo through #Jacksonville. The visit took place as ocean carrier Ocean Network Express (ONE) launched its new West India North America (WIN) container service, which now calls JAXPORT's Blount Island terminal weekly. The service is Jacksonville's first direct container service with the Indian subcontinent. Briceno participated in an event hosted by ONE, highlighting the service's capabilities to cargo decision-makers throughout the region. During the event, Briceno discussed Jacksonville's advantages, including a 47-foot deepwater shipping channel, same-day access to 98 million U.S. consumers, and proximity to the heavily populated Central Florida market. JAXPORT’s Caribbean connections are strong 🏗 The port welcomed a delegation from the Dominican Republic today for a roundtable discussion and tour in partnership with Maritime Administration (MARAD), US Army Corps of Engineers, and USAID. The delegation and port executives discussed how port growth drives regional development for surrounding communities. They also toured JAXPORT’s Blount Island terminal to observe how modern port facilities and infrastructure support a variety of business lines, including cargo and cruise. JAXPORT offers regular service to the Dominican Republic moving containers, autos and oversized cargo. Common commodities traded between the two regions include general merchandise, paper, metals, and beverages. #jaXportpartners

Working together to strengthen the supply chain for Florida businesses and consumers. 🤝 Thank you to Senator Tracie Davis and all of the special guests from the Florida Department of Transportation’s Summer Tour for visiting JAXPORT and seeing firsthand the movement of commercial and US military cargo. During the visit, representatives from the Governor’s Office of Policy and Budget, Florida Senate, and FDOT learned more about the vital link Jacksonville’s port serves in the global supply chain. “The success we are experiencing is a direct result of your support,” CEO Eric Green told the group. With generous support from the State of Florida, major infrastructure enhancements are underway to strengthen JAXPORT’s position as a leader in the movement of containers, automobiles, and non-containerized cargo like paper products. JAXPORT is an economic engine for Florida, supporting nearly 207,000 jobs and $33 billion in annual economic impact for the state.

Happy Fri-yay (or is it Fry-yay?) Either way, today is the perfect day to celebrate #NationalFrenchFryDay French fries are one of many cool cargoes that move through JAXPORT each year, imported from the Bahamas and Belgium and exported to Puerto Rico. Last year, 1.4+ million pounds of fries moved through our port. Pass the ketchup, please!

Congratulations to Linda Carrion, CEO of Carry-on Transportation Solutions, who now serves as the President of the Propeller Club - Port of Jacksonville Club – Port of Jacksonville. The club recently installed new leadership at its annual change of command ceremony. Members advocate for the local maritime industry and the businesses and jobs it supports in Jacksonville. Thank you to Immediate Past President Thomas Cancellare, CHIA for your leadership as the port community celebrated milestones that enhanced Jacksonville’s link in the global supply chain.

You’ve probably heard the phrase, “It takes a village.” For ports, it takes a network of dedicated professionals to keep cargo moving. Check out these photos of the St. Johns Bar Pilots in action climbing onto one of 1,500 vessels that call Jacksonville each year. These highly skilled navigational experts board commercial vessels and use their knowledge of the harbor to help the ship’s crew safely transit the St. Johns River. The Bar Pilots are one of the many partners who support the movement of cargo and cruise service in and out of Jacksonville. #jaXportpartners 📸 ST. JOHNS BAR PILOTS, INC.
