Committed to continuing their long tradition of generosity, a local congregation turned to us as they wrote their church’s final chapter. After 134 years in Hopkins, Mizpah United Church of Christ recently closed its doors and sold its property. It was a transition of deep emotions, especially for families who attended Mizpah for generations. But church members also saw an opportunity to keep living out their values, and they seized it. Get inspired by how Mizpah members distributed the church's assets to support causes that matter to them. Watch our video:

Today, in partnership with the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC), we are pleased to launch the second and final grant round of a program that awards small grants to support K-12 educators as they teach students about Native American culture, history, and modern tribal governments in schools across Minnesota. This funding opportunity, which is part of the SMSC’s Understand Native Minnesota campaign, has approximately $150,000 available for mini-grants this fall, with awards of up to $2,000 per educator. Educators at public, private, charter, and tribal schools are all welcome to apply. The deadline to apply is 6 p.m. on Sept. 26, 2024. Please share this opportunity with schools and teachers in your community!

We believe that communities are stronger when everyone participates in our democracy. Building on our longtime commitment to nurturing civic engagement, we recently awarded $500,000 in grants to nine nonprofits that are doing nonpartisan outreach to help ensure that all Minnesota voters have the resources they need to learn about the issues and head to the polls this fall. We're proud to partner with these community organizations! (ACER inc.)
