Side hustles are reigning supreme in 2024. According to a recent Bankrate survey, 36% of US adults earn extra money on the side to supplement their main source of income. While working a side gig can be a great way to explore one's passions, for many, it's become necessary to stay afloat in this economy. Approximately 36% of side hustlers are working to pay for normal living expenses while 32% believe they'll always need the extra cash to make ends meet. Side hustles have become especially popular among the younger cohorts, like Gen Z and millennials. Almost 50% of Gen Zers report having supplementary income, while 44% of millennials report the same. 📸: NBC

Working two jobs in secret...good idea, or bad?
Tech is so 2018. Jobs in the industry are losing their luster for the nation’s top high schoolers, as more of them strive to work in healthcare and government, according to a recent survey of high achievers, Business Insider reported. Though Google, Amazon, and Apple were still among the top 10 most coveted employers this year, they all retreated in the ranking from their positions in 2018, as did Microsoft, Instagram, and Netflix. On the flip side, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital retained the top spot, while Mayo Clinic, Health Care Services Corp., the FBI, and NASA all moved up from their 2018 rankings. Tech layoffs might’ve made the industry less of a draw for young people, most of whom prioritize job stability, according to a survey of the class of 2024 college graduates, conducted by the job site Handshake. Meanwhile, healthcare and government sectors have been major sources of job growth in the economy in recent years. 📸 : Marvel
