    Graduate student at Drexel University

I am honored to share that I was selected to be the student commencement speaker for this year’s graduation ceremony at Simmons University. In my speech I discussed overcoming obstacles and the importance of seeking out mentorship during times of adversity. Reflecting on this makes me feel thankful for the faculty and mentors that I’ve developed genuine relationships with during my undergraduate career and I will cherish them forever. Although my chapter at Simmons has come to a close, I will keep in touch with the people that I’ve met at this university and Boston will always be like a second home to me. I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and I intend to matriculate into dental school after earning a master’s in Biomedical Sciences. Thank you to Simmons University for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime!

What a way to end the 1st year of college! On April 30th, I hit a milestone as I was awarded for outstanding academic scholarship at the university’s Honor’s Convocation. Here, I received a medal and certificate for being on the President’s List with a whooping 4.0 gpa. Furthermore, on the 2nd of May, I was indicted into the distinguished Alpha Lambda Delta Academic Honor Society . To top it all off, I was announced at the incoming Vice-President of this prestigious society for the 2024-2025 academic year! As the African proverb goes, “It takes a village to raise a child.” I simply could not have reached any of these milestones and all other achievements this academic year without the support of thise who stood with and for me. I would like to expressly thank Ray Jackson and the New Seasons Youth Program for taking a chance on me, Bianca Miller , MS for being a constant variable on my journey, Johnson C. Smith University - JCSU faculty and staff, STEM College JCSU, my fellow African international students at JCSU, my amazing family and above all God almighty. From a shy Zimbabwean kid🇿🇼, to a confident Smithite💛💙. ✅Year 1- Road to Healthcare Professional🥼
