We are excited to share the much-anticipated release of Suricata 7! This has been a longer release cycle than usual for Suricata. We’ve come a long way. Among other reasons, we’d like to acknowledge the impact the pandemic has had on all of us. Our last major version came out in October 2020, and since then, we have been working hard to bring new, promising features to this version, alongside performance improvements and support for more protocols and rule keywords. Version 7 brings DPDK support for primary mode, more application layer protocols, new rule keywords, a fail close switch for exception policies in IPS mode, and more.
