We are excited to culminate Phase 1 of The Peace Department's Carbon Residency with a "Playbook for Place-Based Transition Funds" - a recipe to foster the climate transition, one community at a time, in collaboration with Open Earth Foundation and Metabolic. One of our goal at The Peace Department is identifying key stakeholders working around the same challenges to create and lead spaces for cross-sector collaboration through convenings, retreats, and resource-sharing opportunities for a developed communications strategy. This Playbook is the result of a great coalition. Interested? Dive into the playbook: https://bit.ly/3Uc6f67 Help us spread the news. Do you know someone who might benefit from this playbook? Tag them below or reshare. We couldn't have done this without the amazing Carbon Residency team and its supporters. Special thanks to Racheal Howard, Martin Wainstein, Matthew Moroney, Yihana von Ritter, Richard Zimmerman, and others.
The blueprint that will revolutionize climate finance is here! Together with Open Earth Foundation and The Peace Department, we are introducing the "Playbook for Place-based Transition Funds" – a recipe to foster the climate transition, one community at a time. Aligning with the Paris Agreement and leveraging systems thinking, the playbook deploys a geographic selection scorecard to ensure that every dollar invested not only combats climate change but also fosters community resilience and prosperity. Why it is a BIG deal: ➜ Scale of Transition: We face an unprecedented pace of emissions reductions. Traditional single-point optimization in finance models no longer suffices. This playbook offers a scalable, yet standardized method that transforms local actions into global solutions. ➜ Market Rate Returns for Investors: Investors are eager to participate in the climate solution and are seeking viable returns. This playbook bridges that gap, transforming projects from high-risk bets into bankable opportunities. ➜ Empower Local Communities: By aligning capital with local government plans, the playbook ensures the climate transition uplifts economies and lives. ➜ Innovative Financing: Through multi-asset portfolios that mix infrastructure and companies, wrapped in Loan Guarantee Funds (LGFs), steward-ownership models, and more, we are not merely proposing a new way of funding; we are rewriting the rules of the game. Interested? Dive into the playbook: https://bit.ly/3Uc6f67 Help us spread the news. Do you know someone who might benefit from this playbook? Tag them below or reshare. Amongst international negotiations and high level announcements at COP28, we must remember to pause and reflect on the many highlights of the first days of COP. 🌎 The Nature Positive Pavilion hosted Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities Day to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the rights and territories of nature knowledge holders and guardians. We heard from Indigenous leaders and activists from across the world, including Brazilian Minister Sonia Guajajara and Democratic Republic of Congo Minister Eve BAZAIBA MASUDI, who all shared one message: we must protect the rights of Indigenous Peoples and scale urgent finance and support. 🕊️His Holiness Pope Francis signed a declaration of support for urgent climate action at the inauguration of the first-ever Faith Pavilion at COP28. He shared a video message expressing his thanks for the creation of the first Faith Pavilion at COP, as it testifies to the willingness to work together. This is a historic moment, bringing together religious leaders and representatives from a host of faiths to inspire climate justice globally. 🔊 In the Resilience Hub, Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, SEWA Director Reema Nanavaty, and Eleni (Lenio) Myrivili, United Nations-Habitat and Arsht-Rock joined a panel hosted by Arsht-Rock Resilience Center on gender-responsive solutions for extreme heat. 📧 For any journalists please sign up to our daily newsletter for a simple overview of the complex matters covered at the conference: https://lnkd.in/dqR6baC7 #COP28 #FaithAtCOP28 #FaithClimateAction #NaturePositive #COPResilienceHub COP Resilience Hub Nature4Climate Global Commons Alliance High-Level Climate Champions Muslim Council of Elders The Interfaith Center for Sustainable Development (ICSD) The Peace Department

The Peace Department is thrilled to announce our first-ever panel discussion at COP28! Our panel, “Solutions for People & Planet,” will call upon subject-matter expert panelists in major areas of sustainable solutions and development – water management, food security, and renewable energy – as well as a panelist on financial mechanisms for sustainable solutions. Panelists will have the opportunity to share their work through presentations while participating in an interactive panel discussion about the models of their work. We will also include an element of intergenerational collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and inclusivity of local communities in how that fosters long-term solutions. The goal of this panel is to begin moving sustainable development towards securing peace for people and planet beyond the research or ideation phase into implementation and large-scale deployment. This panel includes a ten-minute Q&A and will serve light appetizers. Our panel be held on December 3, 2023 at 3:30 p.m. in the GASP Pavilion, Blue Zone: Thematic Area 2, Pavilion 130. We thank our wonderful partners at the Global Alliance for a Sustainable Planet for inviting us to be part of their pavilion programming! #GASPWorld #COP28UAE #PathwaytoCOP28 #UniteActDeliver #ClimateAction #SustainableDevelopment #GlobalPartnerships #innovation
