The Posse Foundation
Non-profit Organizations
Posse is one of the most comprehensive and renowned college access and youth leadership development programs in the U.S.
About us
Posse started in 1989 because of one student who said, “I never would have dropped out of college if I had my posse with me.” The Posse Foundation identifies public high school students with extraordinary academic and leadership potential who may be overlooked by traditional college selection processes. The Foundation extends to these students the opportunity to pursue personal and academic excellence by placing them in supportive, multicultural teams—Posses—of 10 students. The Foundation’s partner colleges and universities award Posse Scholars full-tuition leadership scholarships. The Posse Foundation is a national initiative with program offices in 10 cities: Atlanta, the Bay Area, Boston, Chicago, D.C., Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans and New York. Posse recruits students from 20-plus cities across the United States, and nationwide through the Posse Veterans Program. Looking for more Posse stories on LinkedIn? Connecticut College has partnered with The Posse Foundation for more than a decade, "bringing some of the nation’s finest students and future leaders to our campus." POSSE's unique scholarship program selects and develops a cohort of students from the same city who have prepared for nine months together before they arrive on campus each August, setting them up for great success at Conn.
