📢 Today, we unite to highlight the urgent need to protect displaced Indigenous children in Ohio. On October 4, 2023, FBI and HSI agents conducted a raid at Gerber’s Poultry Processing Plant in Kidron, Ohio, targeting Indigenous minors from Maya K'iche’, Maya Mam, Maya Awakateko, and Maya Ixil communities. These children were subjected to intimidation and were forced to sign documents without translation, violating their rights and Executive Order No. 13166. Many of these young people have been driven to migrate internally to states such as Maryland, Virginia, Chicago, and Atlanta due to fear and insecurity. We urgently call for: - Adherence to international commitments to protect Indigenous minors. - Respect and due process from federal agencies. - Collaboration with Indigenous-led organizations to provide necessary resources and support. - Visibility and respect for Indigenous identities and rights. Les pedimos disculpas por la interrupción, pero necesitamos su ayuda para compartir un mensaje crucial en este Día Internacional de los Pueblos Indígenas. 📢 Hoy, nos unimos para resaltar la necesidad urgente de proteger a los niños indígenas desplazados en Ohio. El 4 de octubre de 2023, agentes del FBI y HSI realizaron una redada en la planta de procesamiento de pollos Gerber’s en Kidron, Ohio, dirigiéndose a menores indígenas de las comunidades Maya K'iche’, Maya Mam, Maya Awakateko y Maya Ixil. The Praxis Project honors the life and legacy of Eduardo (Eddie) Osiel Canales, a dear friend and steadfast ally. Eddie's passing is a profound loss for us and our partners at @The South Texas Human Rights Center (STHRC), where he served as founder and director. Eddie was a staunch advocate for humanity, dedicating his life to social and economic justice. Eddie's legacy is one of profound empathy and activism. He has inspired us all with his tireless efforts to build a more just and compassionate world. He is our hero.
