For the advancement of sailing in the Pacific Northwest

About us

The Sailing Foundation was formed in 1974. Our mission is to promote sailing in the Pacific Northwest, with a focus on Youth Sailing and Safety at Sea. The purpose of the Youth Sailing Initiative is to encourage and promote the growth of youth sailing, that we believe as an activity offers a unique medium for personal growth and enrichment. The Safety at Sea Committee of the Sailing Foundation is dedicated to promoting safe boating throughout both the commercial and pleasure boating industry through seminars and research into the development of products that enhance boating safety. Voluntary officers and directors serving without compensation direct the Foundation’s objectives and policies. Sailing classes and related instructional periods are conducted by qualified US Sailing certified instructors who are paid for their services. The Foundation is incorporated under the laws of the State of Washington and the Internal Revenue Service. The Sailing Foundation is a non-profit corporation and donations are tax deductible. The Foundation is qualified to receive charitable contributions in accordance with Internal Revenue Code section 501.c.3.
