We fight with love. The Salvation Army is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Our message is based on the Bible, our ministry is motivated by the love of God, and our mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ as we meet human needs in His name without discrimination. Every program we offer is rooted in our passion to serve God by serving the lost, the vulnerable, the needy, the poor, the hurting, the helpless, and the hopeless. Material and spiritual support is our standard - social services delivered with compassion is our model - anyone in need is our prerequisite. Eighty-two cents of every dollar we raise supports our various programs. We are a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization, and contributions are deductible for Federal Income Tax Purposes to the extent permitted under Section 170(b)(2) for corporations.

This week’s story comes from Fairbanks, Alaska. The Salvation Army Fairbanks responded to the Riley Fire evacuation by providing meals to the staff and residents of Denali National Park. Prayers for everyone impacted by the fires in Alaska. #SalvationArmy #Fairbanks #Alaska #CommunitySupport

"We kept hearing that this was such a need in our area. We felt like we could make a difference with just a little planning. 🙏 👔 Individuals who have experienced homelessness or substance addiction are often in survival mode and they're not always familiar with the workforce and usually don't have any options of professional clothing they can wear to feel good and confident. When you lived in survival mode for as long as some of these people have. You don't have the resources, or the ability to even get clothing, especially professional clothing. ✨A few new, clean outfits and shoes can really open doors for people. It was really beautiful to see people come and donate items they had been holding for years. The way the community came together was the best part. We all worked together to make a difference in the lives of many. ❤️ We’re very proud of the success our volunteers and communities contributed to. It’s absolutely something we hope to make an annual event. It’s a great way for our community to get excited about giving back and giving clothing a new and purposeful life.” 💬 Alexandria Garza, Marketing, Social Media, and Seasonal Campaign Liaison in The Salvation Army Southwest Division and Phoenix Echelon Member 🔗Learn more about the successful clothing drive here: https://lnkd.in/gTC3kXp4 #LoveBeyondHomelessness #EndHomelessness #VolunteerSpotlight
June’s Recap is highlighting #nationaldonutday, which was on June 7th! The Salvation Army Western Territory brought smiles and donuts to our community heroes! From delivering donuts to firefighters in Silicon Valley, to veterans and first responders in Reno and sharing the day's history with Fox News Media in Roseville. Our Donut Lassies in Portland, volunteers in Colorado Springs and celebrations at the USS Midway Museum in San Diego made it extra special. Huge thanks to everyone who took part and all our amazing volunteers! Your support made the day unforgettable. #donutlassies
🎉 A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended the 2024 Testify Congress in Pasadena, CA! 🙌 Salvationists from around the world united for an inspiring weekend of teaching, training and sharing the story of Jesus. 🌟 We also celebrated the incredible cadets who completed two years of training at the College for Officer Training at Crestmont and are now commissioned as Salvation Army officers. 🎓✨ Over 3,300 people participated, and the West gained 177 new Salvation Army soldiers! Donut Day 2024 was a success here in SoCal! 🍩 Donut Day began in 1938 as a way to honor The Salvation Army’s Donut Lassies, who traveled to the front lines during World War I to boost morale by cooking donuts, providing supplies, and praying with soldiers fighting in the trenches. Today, nearly a century later, The Salvation Army continues to serve on the front lines of the fight against poverty through a wide range of social services. Check out the fun donut events that happened all over SoCal! #NationalDonutDay #DonutDay #DonutLassies #TheSalvationArmy
A heartfelt thank you to the dentsu Team for their dedication during their #VolunteerDay at The Salvation Army Bell Shelter. On June 6th, 42 employees from the greater Los Angeles region participated in this impactful event. The team was divided into two groups: one focused on sorting 70 boxes of donations, while the other beautified an outdoor lot, filling three large commercial trash bins with brush and weeds. Your hard work and commitment are greatly appreciated. #TeamDentsu #SalvationArmy
National #DonutDay has roots going back to World War I but was created in Chicago as a fundraiser for those in need during the Great Depression. Thanks to the generosity of the Donut Lassies and those who continue to serve today, these sprinkle-studded pastries serve as a reminder of selfless acts of kindness. How will you give back this #NationalDonutDay? #DonutLassies

At The Salvation Army San Francisco’s Culinary Training Academy, Chef timothy tucker teaches culinary and life skills to students, many of whom are in recovery. The CTA is an integral part of The Way Out’s Recovery System of Care, teaching people marketable skills so they can get back on their feet. The program not only focuses on culinary expertise but also equips students with the tools needed to be successful in life. Graduates have been employed at notable locations such as Saluhall and Oracle Park, thanks to partnerships with organizations like Project Open Hand and renowned restaurants like Osito and Nopasf. Our students exemplify that recovery and transformation are possible! #addictionrecovery #sanfrancisco
