Europe is a world leader in skincare thanks to the expertise of people like Ralf Hagens. As a Technical Physicist at Beiersdorf, Ralf works to develop new methods to characterise skin conditions and measure their changes through product application. These technological advances help to assess skincare parameters such as wrinkle depth, skin hydration, roughness, radiance and glow. They can also help detect and measure things like age spots and skin tone, helping to develop more effective, research-backed products. The sophisticated technology and high investment in R&D by the beauty and personal care industry is a testament to our continued pursuit of safe and effective products, helping people live healthier lives. The beauty and personal care products we use every day are the result of the hard work of nearly 3 million people directly employed by the industry across Europe. The importance of their role can sometimes be forgotten. Ralf Huebner, Printing Operator at Albéa Group Tubes, lies at the heart of the production process. Having previously worked in the automotive industry, Ralf brought his skills and know-how to the beauty sector. While the production process and printing of packaging may not be something consumers think of when they purchase their favourite products, it’s an extremely important part of the product’s journey. Ralf and his team ensure the products people rely on every day are produced in a safe way and to the highest quality. Joining forces for impact in the #BeautyIndustry 💄    I’m delighted to share that dsm-firmenich has joined the The Value of Beauty Alliance! This exciting campaign raises awareness of the #beauty business value chain in Europe – and we particularly love how it demonstrates the industry’s #PositiveImpact on our economies and societies alike.     After all, the beauty products we use daily not only serve essential functional purposes, but also boost our #confidence, #EmotionalHealth, and – ultimately – our quality of life. Because beauty isn’t just skin deep: taking care of ourselves helps us feel good from the inside out.   At dsm-firmenich Beauty & Care, we’re proud to be a #HouseOfScience, driving innovation that supports good health and wellbeing for people all over the world. Building on over a century of world-class scientific leadership, we continuously pursue new solutions – always with the purpose of bringing progress to life, and shape the future together with our customers.    Here in Europe, where the Alliance is based, it’s the perfect time of year to shine a spotlight on a segment where this innovation is urgently needed: #suncare. Excessive exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation contributes to premature skin aging and skin cancer, making sun protection solutions essential to the #health and  #wellbeing of consumers in Europe and beyond.  For example, we have harnessed our expertise in organic and mineral UV filters to develop a cutting edge sun protection range called PARSOL®, featuring a portfolio of UVB, UVA and broad spectrum UV filters that are used by major brands worldwide. By reducing #SkinCancer risks and preventing #PhotoAging, solutions like these help people enjoy the feel-good factor of sunny days – protecting their skin on the outside, while gaining the peace of mind we need for inner #wellbeing.    We are committed to creating scientifically-proven innovations that go #BeyondWellbeing, guided by our five pillars: holistic beauty, sustainability, emotional connection, science, and wellbeing. And we take our responsibility as a #HouseOfScience seriously: in the USA, we’re currently campaigning to accelerate the introduction of a much-needed UV filter #innovation.    Being part of communities like the Value of Beauty Alliance will only strengthen our ability to make a positive impact on the societies we serve. More than a simple dash of lip colour, since the introduction of the first commercial lipstick in 1884 the humble lipstick has become an iconic means of self-expression for so many. Today, on #LipstickDay, we celebrate the role it plays in European society as a symbol of femininity and women’s independence and as a tool for gender-equitable empowerment.  Lipstick can instil confidence and empower the wearer – regardless of the external environment.  In fact, amid the global pandemic and economic uncertainty, sales of lipstick and other lip make-up grew twice as fast as other beauty products in Q1 of 2022.   #ValueOfBeauty
