The Care for All with Respect and Equity (CARE) Fund is investing $50 million in movement building for a universal publicly supported care infrastructure that will fuel economies, improve the wellbeing of kids and families, create millions of good jobs, promote equity, and enable people with disabilities and older adults to live independently with safety and dignity.

Day 2 of our Care Can’t Wait Bus Tour 🚌 brought us to both Grand Rapids and Detroit in the great state of Michigan, where we were joined by nearly 400 caregivers, care recipients, care workers, and care advocates! From members of SEIU and The Arc of the United States sharing their stories in Garfield Park, to our host Detroit Disability Power and incredible partners Mothering Justice, Little Lobbyists, Community Change, ACCESS, the Michigan Elder Justice Initiative (as well as a special performance from House of Jit, LLC) coming together at The Love Building in Detroit, Michigan showed up and showed out for the care movement. And a special thanks to Rep. Still riding the wave of victory! 🎉 Last week, we celebrated a historic win in the fight for justice at our victory party, marking the restoration of Michigan Time to Care (PA 338) and Michigan One Fair Wage (PA 337)! It was an unforgettable night, shared with the incredible mamavists and advocates who stood with us every step of the way. A special thank you to ROC Michigan! This victory is yours to celebrate! 💜✊🏾 Missed the news? Here’s the backstory 👇🏾 In 2018, the Michigan Time To Care proposal (PA 338) and Michigan One Fair Wage proposal (PA 337) were poised for the ballot, but the Republican-led legislature adopted and then weakened them in the same session, cutting crucial benefits. This tactic was ruled unconstitutional by the Michigan Supreme Court, thanks to Article 2, Section 9 of the Michigan Constitution. The ruling in Mothering Justice v. Attorney General is a game-changer for families and providers of color.
