The O'Reilly book “Streaming Databases” has hit the markets! Congratulations to authors Hubert Dulay and Ralph M. Debusmann for their outstanding work. It’s a super overview of the technical challenges and leading vendors in streaming (hint: Timeplus is featured prominently!) Reading this will help you dive deep into topics like: ✅ Incremental Materialized Views ✅ Row-based and column-based streaming databases ✅ Streaming data mesh As Timeplus co-founder Jove Zhong highlights in the book: “Stream processing is hard. You have to handle duplicated or out-of-order events all the time. With this book, you can leave the hard work to streaming databases. It’s the best guide out there for building superior streaming ETL, CDC, or real-time analytics solutions.” Grab your copy online (link in comments) or at your local bookstore. Don’t miss the chance to meet the authors (and the Timeplus team!) at the Confluent #Current2024 conference in Austin, Sept 17-18 🙌 #streamingdata #streamingdatabase StarTree

Innovation isn't just about having big ideas—it's about the hard work that turns them into reality. A huge thank you to our engineering team and our Chief Architect, Ken Chen, for their relentless dedication. Through continuous effort and gradual improvements, they've been making a real difference in our customers' daily lives. Check out our mutable stream, and I'd love to hear your feedback!
In the newly-released Timeplus Enterprise v2.4, we have introduced a new type of stream called “Mutable Stream”. As the name implies, data in such streams are mutable, with previous values being replaced by primary keys. You probably heard of the “The 1 Billion Row Challenge” #1brc. With the new mutable streams, Timeplus can handle data with millions or even billions of unique keys for high performance filter queries, as well as high throughput UPSERTs. Why did we introduce the mutable stream? How is this different from the default stream based on columnar storage? When should you choose row-based storage or columnar storage? 📝 In our latest blog article, Kevin Liu examines how Timeplus can be used alongside OpenAI's large language models (#LLMs) for detecting #DDoS attacks. His example takes us from the ingestion of network data to the alerting of DDoS traffic, all of which are handled by Timeplus in #realtime. Kevin is an intern at Timeplus working with our Chief Technology Officer, Gang Tao. Check out his article here: https://lnkd.in/gfXB6wgi

Do you want to apply #SQL -based #Observability to understand your web traffic at real-time? How familiar you are with the #nginx access log? Do you know you can generate meaningful access logs just with SQL and Timeplus RANDOM STREAM? (for more sophisticated synthetic data generation you may check shadowtraffic.io from Michael Drogalis ) Check out another great blog from Saïd, our friend in Timeplus community. He explained in detail for the nginx log format, how to parse it with Python regex, and how to generate meaningful content with random streams in Timeplus and use the rich IP/geo SQL functions, and light up a #Grafana dashboard. Check out this blog article written by our Timeplus Community member, Saïd A.! 📝 In a previous blog, Saïd shared how he used Timeplus Proton to perform #realtime and #historical analysis of web traffic, using log files generated by an #Nginx server. In this new blog, Saïd expands on his analysis with data visualizations, using Grafana Labs. He demonstrates how to generate meaningful web access logs using Timeplus Proton's Random Stream feature and #SQL, also how to use rich SQL functions like ip and geo to analyze real-time network traffic data. https://lnkd.in/g79kKygv

📊 Timeplus Enterprise offers built-in dashboards for you to visualize data, but did you know we can also seamlessly integrate with other tools like Grafana Labs? In this demo, Jove Zhong (our Co-Founder) creates a #materializedview in his local deployment of Timeplus Enterprise, and shows live metrics in his #Grafana dashboard via the #Prometheus endpoint.
