This is why we are passionate about what we do! We had the opportunity to speak to the Association of County Mayors about what DDA offers and how it can improve communities. We were able to showcase how our programs and grant opportunities can improve the quality of life for older adults and individuals with disabilities. We look forward to continue working with leaders across Tennessee to make their communities more accessible!

We were thrilled to get a first-hand look at the incredible work being done at the St. Clair Senior Center in Murfreesboro! A big shout-out to Murfreesboro Parks Recreation for their commitment to enhancing the quality of life for older adults.👏 Witnessing the impact our senior centers have on the lives of older adults is truly humbling. It's a testament to how a blend of health, social interaction, meals, benefits counseling, and other services can create a holistic support system for our senior community. Do you know of a senior center that could use a grant to elevate their offerings? We're currently accepting applications for grants ranging from 10K to 100K until August 9th. The McMinnville/Warren County Senior Center held a ribbon cutting to celebrate its new location! The center upgraded to a larger space, moving from a 1500 square foot facility to 17,000 square feet. The larger facility allows for a variety of activities, including a reading room, craft room, exercise room and more. The senior center is also excited to offer a dining room that seats around 180 people for meals. Since opening, they've been at capacity for meals everyday they serve.

Getting out into the community and hearing directly from the people who depend on our services and supports is one of the most meaningful parts of working at DDA. Yesterday we participated in AARP Tennessee's tele-town hall to hear directly from older adults around our state. The conversations were eye-opening and extremely productive. We are excited to hit the ground running to improve services and supports for older adults around our state!

We love celebrating success! So much hard work, heart, and collaboration went into launching a new billing system for DDA through Therap Services! The team of STS and DDA subject matter experts worked for more than two years to implement a variety of processes using Therap including EVV, Person-Centered Support Planning, Employment Data Collection, Service Authorizations, and Billing. We're thankful for all of the DDA leaders and employees, STS employees, and Therap leaders who gathered to celebrate today!

This summer, our team is crossing the state to connect with employees and discuss topics that matter most to them. Fireside Chats allow for DDA employees to come together and engage on important issues on the work we do. This week, Assistant Commissioner of Communications and External Affairs Cara Kumari had the chance to sit down with staff in Knoxville. She shared her experience building a robust communications team, the role social media plays in storytelling and the work life balance she strives for.
