This milestone marks a significant advancement for Tomorrow.io in transforming global weather forecasting, early warning systems, and climate resilience. These sounder-equipped satellites mark the next phase in Tomorrow.io's expanding constellation, aiming to provide unprecedented sub-hourly global atmospheric measurements of temperature, humidity, precipitation, and tropical cyclones—a first for the commercial sector. "With our microwave sounders, we can set a new standard in atmospheric data collection and prediction," said Rei Goffer, Co-Founder, and Chief Strategy Officer of Tomorrow.io, "This technology allows us to capture atmospheric data with exceptional accuracy, especially over oceans and remote areas where traditional observations are scarce.” The launch of these satellites comes at a crucial time in the advancement of AI technology. Tomorrow.io's expanding constellation of weather satellites is creating a critical missing link: high-resolution, global data for training and initializing AI models with real-time observations. This data will not only enhance the accuracy of Tomorrow.io's own models but also has the potential to significantly advance the field of weather prediction and climate modeling. The satellites are now undergoing initial commissioning, with preliminary datasets expected in the coming weeks. Tomorrow.io's sounder technology is derived from NASA’s TROPICS mission, and the company is concurrently set to rebuild NOAA’s digital infrastructure through the Earth Prediction Innovation Center (EPIC) program. The company will continue expanding its constellation, advancing its Resilience Platform™ to address the growing challenges posed by extreme weather and climate change.

Are you ready for the weather week ahead? 🌧️ 🌤️ Tomorrow.io's meteorologists have their eyes on notable conditions across the U.S. Here's this week's highlights: 🌀 Tropics Update: Hawaii: Tropical Storm Hone, downgraded from a hurricane, continues to impact the Hawaiian Islands. While the storm brought much-needed rain to extinguish wildfire concerns on the Big Island, it's moving west, affecting Oahu today and Kauai by this afternoon with steady rain, tapering off overnight. Japan: Typhoon Shanshan is approaching southern Japan with potent winds and heavy rainfall expected to significantly impact the region through midweek. No tropical developments are expected in the Atlantic over the next week. 🌩️ Northern Plains/Upper Midwest: Severe thunderstorms are sweeping through from South Dakota to northern Wisconsin, bringing damaging straight-line winds and potential hail. Cooler weather towards the weekend will briefly calm storm activity, but expect more showers by Sunday as temperatures rise again. 🌧️ Northeast US: The Mid-Atlantic to Northeast regions, including major cities like Washington DC, Baltimore, and NYC, will experience strong thunderstorms today, potentially disrupting travel. More storms are forecasted mid-week, with another system by Saturday promising widespread rainfall and thunderstorms. ⛈️ Southeast/Florida: Florida and nearby coastal areas will see daily afternoon thunderstorms driven by sea breezes and daytime heating. While severe weather isn't anticipated, heavy downpours and gusty winds are likely. 🔥 Summer Heat: A heat dome is causing sweltering conditions across the Midwest, with temperatures in the mid to upper 90s, and heat indices pushing past 100°F. The heat extends southwest, where areas like Kansas and Texas will see temperatures that surpass 100°F. Relief is expected as the week progresses with increased thunderstorm activity cooling regions down. 🌦️ Mountain West/Southwest US: The monsoon season continues to bring daily scattered thunderstorms across the region, providing some relief from the heat. 🌤️ Pacific Northwest: Light rain is passing through Seattle and Portland today, with a dry and warm up expected mid to late week.
