"If Not Me, Then Who..."

About us

Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) empowers veterans and families of fallen heroes to develop character in future generations. In 2007, 1st Lt Travis Manion (USMC) was killed in Iraq while saving his wounded teammates. Today, Travis' legacy lives on in the words he spoke before leaving for his final deployment, "If Not Me, Then Who..." Guided by this mantra, veterans and survivors continue their service, develop strong relationships with their communities, and thrive in their post-military lives. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation's heroes live on in the next generation.

Gold Star Peak in Alaska isn't just any hike—it's a meaningful journey, bringing survivors together to honor their fallen heroes and find healing alongside others who share a similar story. To reach the summit is comparable to climbing the Empire State Building 2.5 times or over 5 miles on a treadmill at an incline of 10. There is nothing easy about this climb, but with their loved ones in mind, our TMF expedition participants prove they can tackle anything together. ❤️🗻 #IfNotMeThenWho #GoldStarPeak #Summit #Alaska #Expedition #HonorOurHeroes #FallenHeroes

Moved by the stories of three family friends who have all been impacted in different ways by the events of 9/11, Kayla Masirovits started the #911HeroesRun team S.A.W. (Skipton, Amoroso, Walker) to carry on their legacy. Stephen Skipton, a close family friend of Kayla and her father, worked at the World Trade Center and passed away from a 9/11 related illness in 2014. Chris Amoroso, a Port Authority police officer, lost his life while helping others on 9/11. One of Kayla’s lifelong friends, Thomas Cole Walker, served in the Army where he tragically died in a military training accident in 2019. For over three years, Kayla has continued running in the Charleston 9/11 Heroes Run in honor of them, driven by her commitment to ensure the names of our fallen servicemen and women are never forgotten.

Kenya Gray, along with another fellow TMF mentor Gary Sharp, recently lead a Character Does Matter (CDM) program at Camp Forbes, located in the Cleveland, Ohio area. As a former Camp Forbes attendee, Kenya is deeply passionate about mentoring the current youth in his community and providing them with a safe and nurturing learning environment. Throughout an 8-week period this summer, Kenya and Gary made a substantial impact on 840 young individuals. They engaged in discussions about character strengths, spearheaded beautification projects, constructed picnic benches, nurtured growth, demonstrated leadership, and fostered community spirit. 🙌 #IfNotMeThenWho

As a high schooler, Sam Negrete learned from TMF Veteran Mentor Ben Alexander how to use the strengths and traits that make him unique, and the experience was life-changing. Now, Sam is fulfilling that purpose as a trained TMF Veteran Mentor himself, working with students and serving as a volunteer leader in his community of Phoenix, AZ. When you support Back to School Character Days—taking place in over 70 communities this summer—you’re providing more than a one-time opportunity for Veteran Mentors to inspire youth. You’re paving the way for TMF to offer lessons in character that thousands of students can take with them into their homes, their communities, and their futures. Give today and show your support. >> https://bit.ly/4foTw8W

9 years ago today, we lost a man of honor and justice: 1stLt Bruce Richards, US Army. Bruce fought for those he loved and for his beliefs, always putting others before himself. He was a friend, mentor, and leader, with a contagious laugh that brightened the world around him. Surviving spouse, Stephany Richards, carries on his legacy through her active involvement with TMF. She has honored Bruce by serving alongside other families of fallen heroes on TMF's Alaska, Arizona, and Texas Expeditions. As a Character Does Matter (CDM) Mentor and TMF chapter leader in Utah, Stephany guides and inspires others with stories of Bruce's character. She leads initiatives that foster community, resilience, and character, ensuring that Bruce's legacy lives on through everyone he touched, making us better and inspiring us to honor his life every day.

Families of the fallen arrived in Alaska for the TMF Survivor Expedition. 🗻 Over the next week, our expedition participants will engage in character and leadership development activities while making a difference in the community, all in honor of their loved ones. As part of #TheAlaskaProject, they’ll collaborate with The 98 Fund (The Alaska Project), and end their week with 9-hour hike to the summit of Gold Star Peak, guided by the experts at Remedy Alpine. #Alaska #GoldStarPeak #Hike #Growth #Adventure
