Black History Month is dedicated to honoring the achievements, resilience, and strength of the Black women and men who came before and blazed a trail for us to follow. Tulsa Educare, as a trailblazer in the world of children and families, is proud to celebrate and honor all the amazing Black women and men of the past while inspiring us in the present and those in the future, including our own families and teachers.

On January 30th, Early Learning Works, Avanzando Juntos, and Oklahoma Human Services (DHS) held two informational sessions for Creando Sueños, an initiative to foster more Hispanic-owned child care homes in Tulsa. Over 20 participants learned about the DHS application process and how Early Learning Works and community organizations would assist them in opening their own child care homes. With a scarcity of Hispanic licensed childcare homes in Tulsa, Early Learning Works aims to boost this number by serving as a resource and support for future Hispanic child care owners. Thank you, Channel 2 (KJRH) for the story describing the launch of our program Creando Sueños (Creating Dreams) to support the opening of Hispanic-owned child care businesses in Tulsa. This program is supported by a grant from the Lesher Family Foundation. If you are Hispanic or Spanish-speaking and dream of owning your own child care business in Tulsa, Early Learning Works by Tulsa Educare (ELW) is hosting information sessions on January 30. The sessions will be in Spanish and share how ELW will support those committed to getting licensed to operate a child care home in Tulsa. For information, call ELW at 918-779-6005.

This week, we welcomed the newest group of interns from Tulsa Community College to Tulsa Educare! These interns are working towards their CDAs and will spend the next year gaining in-class experience with us. We love this partnership with TCC because we get to meet amazing new educators and share our schools with the next generation of teachers!
