2 months ago, we completed the District C program (if you do not know about them you need to check them out) where we got partnered with consultants who helped us with our problem statement. One of their suggestions was to attend more conferences and surprisingly we had just booked our second conference which was with North Carolina Museums Council in Cherokee NC. We had a blast and even better, we partnered with the conference to provide coverage for the entire 2 days. One way to be a part of a community is to find a way to integrate, provide support and to find partnership opportunities. Hope you find your partners and build your community.

We have seen museums as an intersectional space for social and climate justice. Being at 2024's North Carolina Museum Conference in Cherokee this last week made that much clearer. As storytellers, the conversations that most excited us were, - How to forage sustainably and ways to use nature as a healing resource - Capturing Oral History within American Indian communities and the importance of oral history - Weaving the voices of Immigrants into the work of museums. This spoke to to us as an immigrant owned business - Making museums and exhibits more accessible. Conferences have been a great way for us to learn from museums and to hear the ways these organisations are dismantling their outdated beliefs and approaches to outreach, curation and creating a sense belonging. NCMC 2025 will be in Raleigh, NC and we hope to see more people coming to this conference. Museums are for ALL and it would be greatly beneficial to see non-museum organisations come out and co-learn at these conferences. Thanks to North Carolina Museums Council for having us as their media partner.

Once in our lifetime Not many live to see One Hundred and tell their story. But when you have a century's worth of stories and an amazing space to tell it, you don't hold back. North Carolina Museum of Art celebrates 100 years in the making. An institute that has grown and evolved over the years to better reflect the communities they serve. Happy birthday NCMA, you are our first Centenarian and we are glad to see you reach this milestone in our lifetime. We can't help but imagine what the 200th year celebration video would look like. It's not often that brands last a century, enduring all the shifts and evolutions, shaping and reshaping to fit the times, listening for cues and clues from voices within and beyond that reflect in the brands voice. 100 years on, we get to enjoy the museum as it stands today, a place that invites all, and all who's invited gets to call this place their own. Small local businesses are the heart of rural towns in North Carolina. Capturing their story allows us to learn about the purpose, vision and goals of these companies. All of them share similar challenges in today's economy. The boom of big manufacturing companies set competitive pricing that these small businesses can't compete with. Most of them are concerned if they will be able to sustain their business and the jobs they support. Even though many obstacles are stacked against them, the pride, grit and positivity these two owners had left us feeling hopeful that the future isn't that grim. The two owners stood tall, smiled and were proud of the business and people they support. Let's help support local businesses and take time to learn about their offerings. We all need a space to heal, rest and call home, what more when going through treatment. SECU Family House at UNC Hospitals is a place you can do that. After interviewing Martha Aldridge and Cindi Jolly, it is apparent the value this space brings to the greater parts of North Carolina. Thank you for allowing us to capture the essence of Family House and to celebrate the great partnership between SECU Family House at UNC Hospitals and SECU Foundation. Documenting impact is our mission for 2024. When you listen closely, you hear the rumbling of amazing, human centered initiatives happening around us. Without experiencing it first hand, it sometimes slips by the waist side and the efforts go unrecognised. Today we got to celebrate the impact of the team at @oneplaceonslow through the @secu_foundation Hearing about the crucial programs designed to support child wellbeing and the importance of child mental health at @oneplaceonslo made it abundantly clear that this needs to be available in all counties across the country. This is an example of how early family support systems help not only the kids but the family and the larger community in preventing things like child abuse and neglect.
