#MICC Commander, Col. Freddy Adams has said that he is not a fan of change for the sake of change, though effective #modernization sometimes requires change. During this morning's opening session of the 2024 Senior Contracting Officials and Directors Acquisition Training (SDAT), Adams told over 80 MICC leaders what he expects from them this week: "I ask you to be open to new ideas and new ways of doing things. Be bold in your thinking." This year's theme for the annual event is “Maintaining a Steadfast MICC Workforce for Tomorrow.” Attendees are participating in training-focused discussions on best practices for successful philosophies when leading an effective team from July 30 to August 2. During the three-day event, attendees will participate in working groups related to contracting solutions, empowering the workforce and sustaining the Army of today and tomorrow. Planners said a measurement of #SDAT2024 is whether or not attendees feel equipped and empowered to fully realize the MICC commander’s vision going into fiscal year 2025 and beyond.

Some of our contracting professionals were fortunate to experience a tour of the U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center last week! As a world-class testing, training, modeling, simulation, and experimentation facility, participating in this tour allowed our ACC-APG teammates to gain a better understanding and perspective of their role in the acquisition process. Watch this video for a glimpse of Col. Adams’ command philosophy and his vision that he delivered to over 80 senior leaders on July 30, who are gathering for the next three and a half days, to explore how to operationalize the commander’s vision for the MICC. Congratulations to Mr. David Chiola for winning “Outstanding Procurement Analyst" as part of U.S. Army Contracting Command's 2023 Annual Awards! David’s leadership of the Army’s Procurement Management Review (PMR) Program and his simultaneous support to the ODASA(P) and ACC have been amazing! He provided oversight of our annual inspection of 15 buying divisions that collectively awarded more than 16,000 actions, valued at $14.2B, in FY23. Under his leadership, we conducted 800 file reviews, answered 25,000 diagnostic questions, resolved 4 systemic weaknesses, and shared over 70 best practices across the organization. These efforts helped us achieve a FY23 low-risk non-compliance score of 94.41%! #WorkforceWednesday #BeAllYouCanBe #PeopleFirst #ArmyContracting
