For a place that has often been plagued by natural disasters and extreme weather events, the people of Puerto Rico are committed to achieving a stronger, more dependable, and cost-effective system. In their efforts to rebuild, they want to rebuild differently. A study conducted by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) assessed the possibility of Puerto Rico achieving its goal of obtaining all its electricity from renewable sources by 2050. While the study concluded that it is technically feasible, achieving this goal will require significant investments in upgrading and expanding the island's electricity grid. It’s not impossible but will take significant work to upgrade and expand the island’s electricity grid along with involvement from the community to transition to renewable energy. The eclipse is only visible from specific regions where the path of totality, the brief period during the eclipse when the Moon completely covers the Sun, resulting in temporary darkness, passes. Interesting fact -> the first state to experience complete totality will be Texas, at approximately 1:27 p.m. CDT. There, the total phase will last 4 minutes and 22 seconds.
