We’re looking forward to the publication of “Drawing Codes: Experimental Protocols of Architectural Representation”, book by Andrew Kudless and Adam Marcus – coming soon. Community Pavilion work in progress for the Southwest Civic Core project, a building in the round responding to street, park threshold, adjacent partners, community gardens, and park space. UltraBarrio is testing incremental phasing of density within tight parcels that are freeway, bayou, and urban core adjacent. The aim is to create optimized flow of people, nature, and access. Phase 1 is a porous podium that yields an interlaced plaza volume to receive interconnected program stacks in Phase 2. This creates early phase strengths that inform a long range continuum of relationships at the ground to parks and internal programs. #architecture #urbandesign #publicrealm

We prototype with heat. Starting with surface temperature readings for multiple project sites, UltraBarrio is establishing a design criteria for the longest duration of relief through passive structures and vegetated heat reduction — including air movement, optimized materials, and nature as driver. #heat #design #environment #nature #architecture
