🌍 Join Forces for the Youth Declaration Signature Campaign 🌍 UNA-USA is rallying our chapters and members to join a 30-day campaign supporting our Youth Human Rights Declaration! From August 13 – September 13, we’re building on the momentum of International Youth Day and gearing up for the UNA-USA Virtual Mobilization Summit. The goal? For chapters to collect 10 signatures/day and for individuals to gather 1 signature/day for the UNA-USA Declaration of Human Rights by American Youth! We're encouraging ANYONE and EVERYONE to engage with new people and discuss the importance of human rights and youth engagement with the UN. Signatures can be collected anywhere—on campus, in the community, in classrooms, at events—wherever you’re inspired to talk about human rights. UNA-USA will provide a guide with best practices soon to support you. If we all participate, we can achieve our goal within the month! It is an honor and bittersweet moment to announce that I am the new United Nations Association of the United States of America Global Goals Ambassador Lead. Ever am I grateful to this community and organization for their trust in my capabilities as a leader and advocate for the #SDGs and a strong #USforUN partnership. I will serve this role with full resolve and commitment, including for the legacy of one of our late and beloved former Global Goals Ambassadors, Chandra Pauline Daniel, PhD., DrPH. Chandra was a remarkable person, passionate advocate, and kind soul. She put 110% into her efforts while finding joy and purpose. I chose this photo of her because not only did we connect professionally but clicked personally. Last month, my 19-year-old kitty passed away, and when I shared the news, she understood my grief as she was also recently reminiscing the loss of her sweet pet guinea pig, Fluffy. It unexpectedly became our last conversation, just two people sharing a humble and endearing life moment. Our UNA-USA National Office team enjoyed our annual staff retreat to map out our strategic goals and activities for 2025. We ended the day with a fun trip to the National Museum of American Diplomacy at the U.S. Department of State to learn how U.S. diplomacy shaped peace, security, and global relations. The museum features items like a helmet from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, which helped rescue efforts in Nepal after the 2015 earthquake. They collaborated with USAID and local rescue crews to save lives. The exhibits highlight the diverse and intriguing ways diplomacy has shaped and been influenced by history, culture, and international events. Thank you to Erin Tyler for welcoming us!

Sending a heartfelt thank you to the team at United Nations Association of the United States of America for the time and effort put into another successful Leadership Summit! This year, we sent a dynamic group of intergenerational human rights advocates to over 180 Congressional meetings on the Hill to encourage our elected officials to support full funding to the United Nations. Additionally, as the implementing partner for the United States, we held a Intergeneration Town Hall discussion. This initiative, underpinned by the United Nations Foundation and supported through the Unlock the Future Coalition, provided the opportunity for 16 UN member states to host Town Halls that were designed to engage, empower, and elevate voices of young people and future generations. Our discussions on each chapter of the Pact for the Future provided attendees the opportunity to hear from subject matter experts and weigh in on the future in areas like global governance, peace and security, and technology and the future. Discussions from our Town Hall will be developed into a cumulative report, which will also include priorities from youth captured by my American Youth Priorities Report and the American Youth Declaration of Human Rights.

Reflecting on an incredible week split between the UN High Level Policy Forum in NYC and the EF Education First Global Leadership Summit in Berlin! 🌍💼 At the UN High Level Political Forum, I had the honor of representing United Nations Association of the United States of America and connecting with my United Nations Association in Canada counterparts Meredith Kent and Ethan Paul. We watched countries present their Agenda 2030 Voluntary Reports, immersed ourselves in this year's HLPF side events and recorded a brief video delving deep into our insights via an engaging Instagram Live session that can be viewed on the archives of all our accounts. It was not only an honor, but also a delight to reconnect with my high school MUN bestie Meredith and her co-delegate Ethan on such meaningful discussions. It just goes to show that the seeds you plant as students tend to blossom in the most unexpected of ways. Shortly after, in Berlin at the EF Global Leadership Summit, I had the privilege of leading a workshop titled "Water Wars: A Climate Crisis Simulation.” With students from all across the US as well as a small international contingent, we explored Sustainable Development Goals 6, 15, and 17, focusing on clean water, biodiversity conservation, and global partnerships. Over the weekend, I was able to present to nearly 400 students! It was incredible to witness the enthusiasm and commitment of the next generation towards addressing these critical global challenges. I remain grateful for these opportunities to contribute to international dialogues and empower young leaders to drive positive change.
