On using her voice in a timely manner: "I think respect is earned. I'm not going to just speak to be heard. What an honor to have been gifted $10,000 from THE DUKE ENERGY FOUNDATION in celebration of their 40th anniversary. United Way of North Carolina values this important partnership and is so grateful for the generosity given not only to our organization but to the other 3 recipients as well. Thank you! ❤️
The Duke Energy Foundation surprised four nonprofit partners this week with $10,000 grants in celebration of the Foundation’s 40th anniversary. Duke Energy Corporation North Carolina President Kendal Bowman presented awards to longstanding partners: North Carolina Center for Nonprofits, United Way of North Carolina, North Carolina Community College System Foundation, and North Carolina American Association of Blacks in Energy. Over the past 40 years, the Duke Energy Foundation has awarded more than $500 million in funding to support the communities Duke Energy serves. This record of giving back reflects the company’s steadfast commitment to philanthropy. Community is at the heart of everything Duke Energy does, and these grants recognize decades of partnership working to change lives and make communities across North Carolina better places to live, work, and play. Our team also took the opportunity to complete a volunteer project for our friends at Oak City Cares. Thanks again to our wonderful partners for joining us: Ivan Canada, Kim Neustrom, Brittany Pruitt Fletcher, Katie Loovis, MoNiqueka Smith, and Shae’ Kinard. And thanks to the dream team that made this all possible: Amy Kathryn Strecker, Dominique Johnson, Sarah Wray, Grace Rountree, and Garrett P.. What a wonderful and fun day.
