Dr. Green’s dedication to civil rights, her unwavering commitment to social justice, and her profound impact on countless lives will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Dr. Green was a beacon of hope and a pillar of strength in our community. Through her work, she inspired change and made our region a better place for all. Advancing equity requires shifting conditions that hold problems in place. It's a process, outcome, and a prompt to reflect on how our actions affect change. UWGCR invests in systems change at structural, relational, and transformational levels. Two ½ years ago, we launched the Luminosity Collaborative, a unique fellowship for systems artistry, collaborative learning, and complex problem-solving. We also invested in two early-stage transformative ideas. Today, the leaders championing these ideas shared inspiring progress on health equity through transportation and how mutual aid as a process and outcome is transforming the existing food system. With unrestricted funding and operational support from UWGCR thought partnership, they were able to accomplish significant, tangible milestones toward long-term goals. Thank you to all attendees (virtual and in person), and special thanks to our leaders in systems change: Katherine McNeice, Dr. Renee Rodriguez-Goodemote (Saratoga Hospital), Andy Gilpin (CAPTAIN Community Human Services), Shriya Matta, Mouda Al Zaydan (Siena College AmeriCorps VISTA) Jammella Anderson, and Erin Donahue (Free Food Fridge Albany)

As the school year winds down, we're excited to kick off the work of the Summer Meals Collaborative! Heather Senecal, UWGCR's Director of Learning & Evaluation, along with the incredible panelists Sonya Hauser, Cody Bloomfield, Rebecca Anthony, Betsy Dickson, Julianne Thompson Lewis, and Aldo R. Juárez-Romero, shared their vision and plans at the #NYSFoodSummit. Together, we're committed to nourishing our youth's bodies, minds, and spirits. Summer Meals sites will be kicking off at the end of June and will be available to ALL kids 18 and younger at schools, parks, community centers, and more! Stay tuned for more dates on fun activities and meal sites. We can't wait for this summer to make the Capital Region the best place to be a kid! UWGCR's Women United members joined over 150 8th-grade girls from Schenectady City School District at the Working Group on Girls of Schenectady, Inc.'s 15th annual Girl’s Day Out. ✨Girls with Dreams Become Women with Vision✨ Our volunteers led morning workshops, engaged in meaningful conversations, and connected with the girls throughout the day. A big thank you to Audrey Stone and our friends at Sunmark Credit Union for making our service project—creating mental health and personal care bags for each girl—a huge success!
