Tomorrow evening 9/4, join United Way's Círculo Latino Leadership Society as the Rochester Red Wings transform into the Cocos Locos de Rochester. In celebration of the large LatinX community in Rochester, the Cocos Locos game will feature the music, dancing, food, and fun of Hispanic Culture. Daisy Algarin, LLDP Class of 1987; 2024 Women of Distinction will be joined by her father, Rev. Enrique Rivera, LLDP Class of 1983 (HLDP co-founder), son, Albert Algarin, LLDP Class of 2010, and grandson, Albert Jr. who will throw out the first pitch on behalf of the next generation of Latino Leaders. Borinquen Dance Theatre, Inc. will be performing traditional Puerto Rican dances, Bomba and La Plena, to welcome and entertain guests. Three bands made up of rockstar employees from Excellus BCBS, ESL Federal Credit Union, and Genesee Regional Bank will battle it out in a musical medley at our first-ever Battle of the Bands on October 3! Drumroll, please...it's time to meet the bands: The Puckdaddys are a 3-5 piece band that plays a variety of acoustic rock music from many decades. They met when their kids played hockey and then started filling newfound free time with music! ESL House Band is dedicated to entertaining at company events and eagerly supports fundraising efforts in the community whenever they get the chance! Refer with Caution is a ragtag ensemble of aspiring rock stars who, by day, navigate the world of finance. Their setlist features hard and alternative rock hits from the 1970s through the 2000s.
