The American economy thrives on #entrepreneurs, and entrepreneurs thrive on childcare. Yet, we face a #childcarecrisis, and current solutions just aren’t enough. That’s why we launched the National Commission on Childcare and Women's Entrepreneurship. Today, we proudly announce our Statement of Principles for the Commission! Our goal: to ignite new evidence-based practices and policies, helping entrepreneurial women find diverse childcare solutions so they can fully engage in the U.S. economy. We celebrated more than 80 female business owners at the #TakesHeart event hosted in part by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. Not only did we celebrate some amazing accomplishments, we also discussed challenges that #womenentrepreneurs face. Accessible and affordable #childcare continues to be one of the main concerns for women to be able to fully contribute to the economy, which United WE was able to share the latest national research on this topic. Takes Heart centered around the amazing art installation created by Laura Crossley as part of the Parade of Hearts. The art piece features many of the women #entrepreneurs that attended the event.

Today is Juneteenth, a historic day that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. We take a moment to reflect on our history, honor the strength and resilience of Black communities, and continue the work for true equality and justice. This work includes advocating for equal pay. Black women make 63 cents for every dollar earned by white non-hispanic men. United WE board member, Ebony Reed is convening gatherings around the country this week and next to dig deep into the data around the Black-white wealth gap and speak about her new book "Fifteen Cents on the Dollar". Take action this #Juneteenth by attending one of the events: https://bit.ly/4cfyLtU #equality #justice #socialjustice #equalpay

Did you miss last week's event where we unveiled the findings from our newest research on the #childcare needs of women entrepreneurs? No problem. Here's what you need to know – Women entrepreneurs are crucial to the U.S. economy, creating 41% of new businesses since 2019 and driving 2 out of 3 new jobs in the last 25 years. They face unique challenges, especially with access to capital and balancing childcare. Our research is meant to raise awareness of this issue and guide policymakers in better supporting these vital economic contributors. #entrepreneurship #womeninbusiness #childcareissues
