Becker's Healthcare recently asked 46 health IT and finance leaders who will be speaking at the Becker's 9th Annual Health IT + Digital Health + RCM Meeting: The Future of Business and Clinical Technologies to share their predictions on how healthcare delivery will change in the coming decade. Here’s what Kipum Lee, PhD, Vice President of Innovation and Product Strategy at University Hospitals, had to say: “In 10 years, more attention and investment will be made to care delivery outside of the four walls of the traditional hospital. The venues of healthcare would not be limited to “sick care” but will include and perhaps even begin to prioritize “well care.” Instead of hospitals as the sole delivery vehicle for care, other sites and industries such as hospitality and transportation will have begun to offer superior and sustainable innovative solutions. Most importantly, the home environment – especially through AgeTech and passive monitoring – may become even more central to care delivery.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/e76YV7nz #healthcaredelivery #innovation #wellcare #homecare #healthcaretransformation

Hazel Young, MD, grew up in Detroit, Michigan with seven sisters, and today all eight women are either educators or physicians -- thanks to the encouragement and example of their parents, who were both teachers. Today, Dr. Young’s role at UH is as a physician in radiology, but she incorporates education as well. She enjoys teaching and mentoring pre-med and medical students as well as radiology residents and does so for hundreds of hours each year. She also provides shadowing opportunities for radiology technology students, nurse practitioners and area high school students. Dr. Young well remembers her own days as a student -- a diligent one. At her college-prep high school, she was science-oriented and focused on a chemistry/biology curriculum. It was during her medical school rotations that she had decided to specialize in radiology. “The physicians in radiology seemed to be the happiest I met among all the rotations I did,” she says. She has been the staff radiologist for the UH Cleveland Medical Center Department of Radiology since 1992. In addition, Dr. Young also has set up two scholarships for medical students -- one at Michigan State University and another at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tenn. Meharry is among this county’s historically black colleges and universities, known as HBCUs. Today, there are two principles that constantly guide her, says Dr. Young: “If you see injustice, say something. If you see a cause of racial health disparities, do something.” Read more about Dr. Young at https://lnkd.in/g7s-RAad #radiology #mentor #DEI #physicianexcellence #patientsfirst #studentsfirst

University Hospitals is all about helping people grow and progress in their careers, and no one knows that better than Seth O., Patient Care Nurse Assistant at UH Cleveland Medical Center. Seth began his career in environmental services (EVS), but quickly realized that he wanted to be more involved with bedside patient care. Seth began the Pathway to PCNA program, which is our workforce development program to help those who want to advance into a patient care role. It offers clinical skills training, patient/customer service practices, communication skills development, and more. Seth completed the Pathway to PCNA program and then progressed to the UH Medical Assistant (MA) Earn and Learn Program, in which UH pays for participants’ tuition and offers full-time wages as they prepare to obtain their Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification upon completion of the program. From there, Seth was hired at Bolwell Family Medicine, and he's currently enrolled in the UH LPN Earn and Learn Program and intends to become an RN. “My favorite thing about UH is the wonderful work environment and the equal opportunity to grow," shared Seth. “UH has incredible career ladders and everyone is welcome to climb. I can't wait to be part of the UH nursing team!” We’re proud to support our caregivers as they advance and grow in their careers, and our career ladder exists to help our team members keep progressing and learning. If you’re interested in a nursing career where you can make a difference and grow along the way, check out available opportunities at University Hospitals. https://lnkd.in/ezzxD664 #UHNursing #UHCareers
