About us
The University of Nebraska Foundation was created in 1936 by community leaders who wanted to create excellence at the University of Nebraska not solely possible through state funding. We are recognized as one of America’s Favorite Charities by the Chronicle of Philanthropy in a ranking of the country’s top 100 charities. Vision The vision of the University of Nebraska Foundation is to be recognized as the trusted partner of those wishing to support the University of Nebraska. Mission The University of Nebraska Foundation grows relationships and resources that enable the University of Nebraska to change lives and save lives. Core Values >Integrity >Passion for Mission >Teamwork We manage more than 11,000 donor funds, an endowment ranked in the top 25 among public universities, and are one of the 25 largest foundations for public universities, measured by annual private support or endowment size. We transfer about $200 million a year to the university and its affiliates while having more than 99 percent of foundation assets restricted to a specific use. Beliefs >Private gifts have the power to transform the University of Nebraska. >The relationship is valued as much as the gift. >Our mission is advanced through the contributions of all. >Accountability matters. >Our integrity is our greatest asset. Drivers >We foster positive relationships and effective partnerships, both internally and externally. >We match the personal passions of donors with university priorities. >The giving experience should be rewarding for donors at all levels. >In all that we do, we strive to be leaders and innovators. >We balance a strong work ethic with a commitment to personal wellness. >Philanthropy should be fulfilling, inspiring and fun.

Donating appreciated assets is one of the best ways to make a gift or donation to the University of Nebraska Foundation. Ask UNF donor (and UNMC alum), Dr. Ron Stock! Gifting appreciated assets — such as real estate, stocks or other securities — can be a blessing to both you and the University of Nebraska. By reducing capital gains taxes, you could provide a greater gift to support the University of Nebraska, versus much of the gift being reduced by taxes. The University of Nebraska celebrated a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday, marking the completion of a feedlot research, teaching and extension center. The new facility, located at the Eastern Nebraska Research, Extension and Education Center near Mead, will be named the Klosterman Feedlot Innovation Center, pending approval by the University of Nebraska Board of Regents. “Our dad knew the power of collaboration, and he would be so proud to be part of the incredible group celebrating the opening of the Klosterman Feedlot Innovation Center here today. As a family, we are very proud and thankful for the example our parents provided and the legacy they have created," said Meg Klosterman Kester, who along with her brother, Jack, spoke on behalf of the Klosterman family.

Please help us congratulate Jacob Vanderford as his internship comes to an end and he pursues a graduate degree in Higher Education Leadership. Jacob shared, "The skills I further developed during my time at the foundation were both time management and communication. Throughout my life, I have been quick to say 'yes' to things because I didn't want an opportunity to pass me by. I have learned that when you feel overwhelmed, it is okay to ask for help or say no when your plate might be too full." Thank you for choosing us for your internship opportunity, and we wish you the best in your future endeavors!
