She's your favorite CFO's favorite CFO! We're thrilled to share that Ashley Hutchinson O'Connor, a longstanding and instrumental member of our team, is now our new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) 🎉 From her early days as a founding 8th grade special education teacher at UP Academy Leonard in 2013 to her impactful work in operations and finance, Hutch has grown alongside our organization, embodying the spirit and dedication that define UP. Her journey from the classroom to the network level has been nothing short of inspiring. Outside of work, she’s a mom of four boys, an avid reader, and a devoted football fan. She takes pride in her role as "Mrs. Coach" alongside her husband, who coaches high school football. Her connection to UP runs deep, with her aunt and uncle having been students at the John Marshall School, now UP Academy Dorchester. Please join us in celebrating Hutch the continued impact she will undoubtedly make in her new role! 💙 #cfo #employeespotlight #thisisup

This summer, UP Academy Holland (UAH) cut the ribbon on their first-ever food pantry: the Tiger Mart! Did you know that 22.9% of households with children are facing food insecurity? This number is further exacerbated when you consider the barriers that BIPOC households face in accessing resources. Most of our students come from historically marginalized, underserved communities, 86% being economically disadvantaged. In true UP fashion, our school communities mobilized to support our families. Veronica Rosario, our incredible Coordinator of Family and Community at UP Academy Holland, led the charge. Through a partnership with Stop & Shop Supermarket, UAH opened the Tiger Mart to ensure that families have free access to food and other necessities, even over the summer. Check out the Tiger Mart in all of its glory! 🐯 #thisisup #foodsecurity #community

Thank you PTC for hosting our kids for their Imagine Your Future trip last week - they had a blast! These meaningful partnerships are what it's all about 💚
I love being a part of HOLA at PTC because it helps me inspire the next generation. Last week, our ERG was invited to welcome a group of 5th graders from UP Education Network, which creates learning experiences for students in challenging communities. My group consisted of Puerto Rican, Dominican, and Cape Verdean students who dreamed of being lawyers, engineers, and more. For some reason, they did not have marketing dreams! Many thought that all marketers did was create unskippable YouTube ads, but as I went on to detail that we put on events, design websites, and more, I saw the lightbulb go off. Many didn't realize that world-class companies need people who can do these things. After the tour, one of the UP directors leaned over and said, "You don't know how much this means. Many of these kids don't feel like they don't belong in spaces like these, but groups like yours make it seem possible for them." This is what HOLA is all about. As much as we love teaching Spanish or bringing in mariachis, giving back to our community fills us with pride. This may not have been a life-changing experience for these kids, but maybe—just maybe—one of them walked away thinking, "I can be there too."
