Urban Wood Network
Industry Associations
A Network of Municipalities, Arborists, Sawmills, Suppliers, Manufacturers & Makers, Professionals, and Stakeholders
About us
The Urban Wood Network is made up of members from across the United States and beyond. Since the early 2000’s, urban wood professionals have worked to accomplish the mission of urban wood utilization through uniting, promoting, and demonstrating its use before eventually coming together as UWN. Our ever-growing collaborative network of urban wood industry professionals – from Municipalities and Arborists to Sawmills, Suppliers, Manufacturers & Makers, Design Professionals, Consultants, and beyond – allows consistent access to collective experience and connectivity to help the industry thrive. We are doing more than just saving trees and wood from a waste stream, we are giving them a second life at their highest use by promoting the robust supply chain necessary to get the highest use product from these trees.

Idaho’s Chapter of the Urban Wood Network takes a big step forward today with the Grand Opening of Les Bois Milling in Boise, ID. This company, owned & operated by Zane Everman, represents a major investment in the future of Idaho’s circular urban wood economy, where we are working together with cities, tree care companies, millers & makers to rescue trees from the landfill and up-cycle them into valuable wood products. Today’s grand opening & locally ♻️ 🌳 slab sale at Les Bois includes wood recycled from cities across the Treasure Valley, St. Luke's Health System and Boise State University properties & private properties across the region where trees needed to be removed for development, due to safety concerns and for various other reasons. Special thank you Zane who has made this major investment in the health & resilience of our urban forests and local economy, and to all who have supported Les Bois Milling in this new venture, including: Cities of Boise, Nampa & Meridian; Urban Forestry Products, Treasure Valley Canopy Network, St Luke’s, Boise State University, Alpine Tree, ArborSafe, Eden Tree Works, AncesTREE™ & many other key stakeholders and partners in this effort. Urban Wood Economy is a national nonprofit using an entrepreneurial model to leverage untapped opportunities that capture carbon and create jobs by bringing urban and community wood utilization to scale. Hear from CEO and Co-Founder Jeff Carroll about UWE’s efforts to forge circular supply chains for wood utilization (from wildland urban interfaces to city centers), beyond lumber and urban wood products. By utilizing all of the tree — including trimmings and species not slated for UW products — UWE is transforming large-scale wood waste to lumber, biochar, compost, and more!
