NEW 🚨: A significant development has emerged in California's battle to preserve local journalism. Assemblymember Buffy Wicks, who previously pushed for legislation to make Google pay for using news content, has now announced a $250 deal with tech giants to fund newsrooms and launch a “National AI Accelerator.” He said on Wednesday that state and tech companies will pay nearly $250 million over the next five years, with the majority of funding going toward newsrooms.
