Curious about who designs the Coast Guard uniforms? Edith Head - known for her Hollywood costume designs in the 1950s, 60s, and 70s - was asked to design new uniforms for females serving in the Coast Guard in 1974. Having the most Academy Awards for costume design certainly made her a good choice for helping the Coast Guard adapt their uniforms to the needs of female personnel! Head received the Meritous Public Service Award for her contributions and reportedly said designing the USCG women's uniform was the highlight of her career. What other famous Coast Guard faces would you like to see us highlight in the future? Flotilla 16-07 attends open house at Station Oregon Inlet Flotilla 16-07 recently participated in the Open House at Station Oregon Inlet, NC. This well-attended event provided the public with the opportunity to tour their facility and view various assets from the boat station, Aids to Navigation Team Wanchese, and Air Station Elizabeth City. Additionally, local first responders demonstrated their equipment and discussed their roles with interested guests. 📸: Greg South AUXPA3 #USCG #CoastGuard #USCGAux #GoCoastguard #semperparatus #MondayMotivation #MondayMood #MondayMorning #MondayBlues #MondayNight

Are you planning to venture out on the water this holiday weekend? It is important to be aware that consuming alcohol on the water affects you differently than on land. Factors such as dehydration and the body's efforts to counterbalance the boat's movement intensify the effects of alcohol. Boating under the influence is a serious offense, and during this 4th of July holiday, law enforcement marine units will be patrolling under the Operation Dry Water campaign to identify intoxicated operators. Ensure you have a designated sober vessel operator to avoid serious consequences and ensure a safe boating experience. 📸:Lara Davis, Pamela Manns #USCG #CoastGuard #USCGAux #GoCoastguard #semperparatus #MondayMotivation #MondayMood #MondayMorning #MondayBlues #MondayNight
