Laboratory testing plays a central role in #HIV treatment and prevention. In #Burundi, a new approach is being implemented to ensure equitable access to HIV testing and other diagnostic services nationwide. This approach includes redistributing equipment to areas where it can be used more effectively and enhance training for laboratory staff. In #Liberia, the Central Medical Stores (CMS) sought to establish a mechanism for routine monitoring of #ColdChain facilities. GHSC-PSM's team in Zimbabwe carried out temperature and humidity mapping in Monrovia for the Liberia CMS as part of south-to-south cooperation with the home office. As part of this intervention, the national warehouse was temperature and humidity mapped both for ambient and cold chain storage. This was done according to World Health Organization standards for good storage practices. The activity included installing temperature monitoring devices to continuously monitor warehouse temperature and humidity with real-time SMS alerts of both temperature and humidity excursions. CMS warehouse personnel were also trained on temperature monitoring and management of temperature and humidity excursions. The CMS now has updated temperature management capabilities, compliant with WHO standards with improved cold chain infrastructure that operates within appropriate temperature and humidity ranges for cold and ambient commodity storage. At GHSC-PSM, we believe that by prioritizing the integrity of Liberia's cold chain systems, we ensure that essential medications and vaccines are delivered safely and effectively to those who need them most.
