About us
Welcome to the official LinkedIn page of the U.S. Fire Administration! As an entity of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency, the mission of the U.S. Fire Administration is to provide national leadership to foster a solid foundation for our fire and emergency services stakeholders in prevention, preparedness and response. America’s fire losses today represent a dramatic improvement from more than 40 years ago. In 1971, our nation lost more than 12,000 residents and 250 firefighters to fire. Acting to stop these tragic losses, Congress passed the Federal Fire Prevention and Control Act in 1974. It created the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) and the National Fire Academy (NFA). Since that time, through data collection, public education, research and training efforts, USFA has helped to reduce fire deaths and make our communities and residents safer.

Today, the FSRI team is excited to share our collaboration with the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE) and the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) to ensure Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) agencies are #NERISready. This partnership aims to align the CFAI Model with the new National Emergency Response Information System (NERIS), enhancing data quality and operational effectiveness in fire safety. We look forward to sharing more about this partnership in the future.
CPSE is collaborating with Fire Safety Research Institute and U.S. Fire Administration to ensure CFAI agencies are #NERISready. Read more at https://lnkd.in/eBhVfXUu

Data is essential for improving fire safety and making informed decisions. With accurate data, fire departments can identify problems, tell better stories, and implement effective community risk reduction strategies. The National Emergency Response Information System (NERIS) will enhance our ability to collect and analyze data, providing near real-time insights and better reporting. Check out this #FireDataWeek video featuring Trey Mayo, Fire Chief, City of Winston-Salem Fire Department, NC and Mike Duran, Fire Chief, Phoenix Fire Department, AZ, to learn more about the importance of data and how #NERIS will improve fire data management.
