We had such a fun day at our annual SummerFest for our staff! ☀️ It’s a chance for our 300 employees to come together, relax and meet other teams who work at our various sites across the San Gabriel Valley. We played games, danced, held a raffle with amazing prizes, and enjoyed lunch from five tasty food trucks! Yesterday was a monumental ribbon-cutting ceremony at Heritage Square South, a new home for 69 seniors who previously experienced homelessness. After over 20 years of dedication and collaboration, this innovative 69-unit complex in Pasadena is now a reality! 🏠 We were honored to be joined by Congresswoman Judy Chu and Mayor Victor Gordo in celebrating this significant milestone, and the late Councilmember John Kennedy was recognized and remembered as the initial champion of the project. City of Pasadena, BRIDGE Housing Corporation, along with financial partners, Wells Fargo and Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco worked together to make this Permanent Supportive Housing possible for our aging community. Union Station Homeless Services is proud to partner with BRIDGE Housing by providing the essential services to support the residents in their transition at home. We are thrilled to share that the City of El Monte has been awarded $2 million in funding through the First District Community Grants Program! 🎉 This generous grant will support the operations at two crucial Homekey properties: the Hilda Solis Iris House and the Hilda Solis Rose Court, providing a total of 133 beds of interim housing. A special thank you to Supervisor Hilda Solis for presenting this substantial grant and for your dedication to ending homelessness in our communities. We are proud to partner with the City of El Monte in providing essential wrap-around services at these properties. We hosted a lovely Evening of Gratitude at All Saints Church last week - where Union Station Homeless Services was founded 51 years ago. It was a truly inspiring evening with so many of our devoted supporters in one room. The energy and commitment to creating even greater positive change in our communities were palpable. The beautiful dinner was catered by our very own Chef Marisa and our incredible Food Services team! Special shout out to Supervisor Kathryn Barger for attending and presenting us with a Los Angeles County Resolution for our dedicated service and contributions to the community.
