We are proud supporters of the Orlando Mayor's MLK Commission and grateful for the impact made possible by this partnership.
Today marks a significant milestone in Orlando’s history! Orlando Mayor's MLK Commission members remember the impact of seeing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. speak during the Civil Rights Movement. On March 6, 2024 we celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Dr. King's visit to Orlando, where he gave a speech at Tinker Field and hosted two workshops at Shiloh Baptist Church. Vicki Brooks, member-at-large, recalls listening to Dr. King urging Orlando residents to vote, further their education to strengthen their influence and giving hope in a time of crisis. This impact brought her to join the Orlando MLK Commission as they worked to advance the life and legacy of Dr. King. For over three decades, the Orlando Mayor’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission has collaborated with partners to organize events honoring Dr. King’s life and legacy throughout Orlando, particularly around the national holiday in January.
