Verizon brought the latest installment of its Connected by Culture Series to the Bronx! We brought together Latino change-makers for an insightful discussion on how different communities leverage technology for specific needs–and how Verizon is partnering with them to meet their goals.   Verizon is proud to host opportunities fostering connection among the Latino community in New York, and beyond! In this era of unprecedented technological innovation, Verizon is committed to staying at the forefront of new technology. To do so, we’re partnering with community organizations to make sure innovation benefits every member of the communities we serve. Recently, we partnered with John’s Hopkins’ Ward Infinity program to present The Power Shift series, diving into AI’s “Promise and Price.” Focused on the intersection of tele-medicine and AI, the event featured discussions on how this new technology can be leveraged to improve access to healthcare, particularly in under-served communities. This event just one of the ways Verizon is dedicated to making sure we’re moving forward, together, in this new age of technology. Be sure to catch highlights in the video below!

Verizon brought its Connected by Culture Series to Boston! The Boston event was developed In collaboration with Latino-serving organizations in the Boston area: Amplify LatinX; the Boston Chapter of the ALPFA Inc - Association of Latino Professionals For America; Casa de la Cultura Dominicana en Boston / Dominican Festival Boston; IBA - Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción; La Colaborativa; Latino STEM Alliance; Massachusetts Immigrant & Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA); Sociedad Latina Inc and the Veronica Robles Cultural Center (VROCC), Latinas in Tech Boston, Latinas United and others. We convened a robust discussion, hearing from successful Latino Community leaders in STEM and understanding initiatives in the City of Boston that focus on promoting opportunities in STEM to make the field more inclusive and representative of our community. Many thanks to our panelists Karen Chacón, Santiago G., Carolina Lopez-Treviño, Sgardy Pena, and everyone who attended! Fostering opportunities like these to spark insightful conversations and forge long-lasting connections is all part of Verizon’s commitment to the Latino Community in Boston, and beyond! One of these incredible organizations is CODE313, which works to provide equitable STEAM education for youth. We recently partnered with CODE313’s team to present STEAM Slam, an event offering students hands-on opportunities to engage directly with STEAM. Brianna sat down with Bartel Welch, Founder and Executive Director of CODE313, and Verizon’s Director of Consumer Sales, Nicole Barnes, to discuss this comprehensive partnership, and why events like these are pivotal to sparking a lifelong love of STEM among youth. Last month, we partnered with the Greater Washington Board of Trade for a comprehensive discussion on AI in the workplace.
