  • 🌍✨ Meet Cameron (Cam) Chase, an English major from the University of Utah, who’s currently experiencing the Global Prosperity U Internship in Ghana! The group is on the move visiting various areas of Ghana. Take a look at Cam’s recap of a recent weekend excursion. Exploring Cape Coast: This weekend, our group traveled to the historic Cape Coast in Ghana's Central Region. We stayed at the stunning Coconut Grove Resort, right on the coast of the Gulf of Guinea. Historical Insights: Our adventure began with a tour of Elmina Castle, a nearly 600-year-old fortress central to the history of the Transatlantic Slave Trade. The castle has been under Portuguese, Dutch, British, and now Ghanaian control, and it serves as a museum educating visitors about the region’s profound history. Nature’s Beauty: Next, we headed to Kakum National Park, where we immersed ourselves in Ghana's lush landscape, walking through the jungle canopy on breathtaking rope bridges. Cultural Vibrancy: Our excursion concluded with a visit to the vibrant Art Market in Accra, filled with excitement and creativity, before returning to Kpong and Ensign Global College. At Global Prosperity U, students like Cam not only meet inspiring leaders in health and development but also explore the rich history and nature of Ghana. Follow along for more incredible experiences! 🌟 #GlobalProsperityU #StudentExperience #CapeCoast #Ghana #CulturalExploration

  • 🌍✨ Meet Emma Parkin, one of our dedicated students participating in the Global Prosperity U Internship this summer! Emma is a Junior majoring in Social Work, and her journey in Ghana has been both enlightening and inspiring. Recently, Emma and other students participating in the internship had the opportunity to meet Gloria Andoh, a prominent suicide prevention activist in Ghana who runs a mental health awareness foundation. Here’s what Emma had to say about the experience: “Meeting Gloria Andoh was a humbling experience, to say the least. As someone deeply passionate about mental health, it was incredible to connect with someone across the world who shares the same values and works tirelessly to bring light to this important issue. Gloria shared with us that until last year, attempting suicide in Ghana could lead to imprisonment. She has worked extremely hard with the government to eliminate this punitive action and reduce the stigma surrounding suicide. Gloria travels to different schools, meeting with children and their teachers to promote self-esteem, kindness, and resilience. Inspired by Dr. Greg Hudnall, who founded Hope Squad—a peer support suicide prevention program in the United States—Gloria is working to implement a similar program in Ghana. One of her key focuses is teaching resilience to young children. She believes that fostering resilience from an early age helps children face challenges with confidence, knowing they are stronger than the obstacles they encounter. The work Gloria does every day makes the world a better place, and I am incredibly grateful for that.” To learn more about Gloria and her impactful work, visit her website, Weinglo Family International, or read her book, Suicide is Not an Option When Life Happens. Stay tuned for more updates on our students’ experiences in Ghana! 🌟 #GlobalProsperityU #StudentExperience #Ghana

  • 🌍✨ Meet Amelia Miller, a passionate student currently taking part in the Global Prosperity U Internship in Ghana! Amelia is double majoring in Operations and Supply Chain and Environmental and Sustainability Studies, and she's already diving into impactful work with our partner, Engage Now Africa. Here's a glimpse of her incredible experience so far: "Hello everyone! Today marks my second full day in Ghana as part of the Prosperity U Internship. Our group had the honor of attending the 10th Annual Conference celebrating International Albinism Awareness Day in the city of Ho. We started the day by listening to various speakers who shared insights on albinism, a genetic disorder that affects skin pigmentation. A local doctor emphasized the importance of preventative measures to avoid skin cancer and encouraged us to never lose hope for the future. After the insightful talks, our group assisted with eye exam screenings. This has been an illuminating experience in the complexity of public health, the resiliency of communities, and the dedication of Ghanaian health professionals. This experience has been incredibly enlightening, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to contribute and learn. Stay tuned for more updates from our journey in Ghana!" We are so proud of Amelia and the entire student group for their dedication and commitment to making a difference. Stay tuned to follow along on their adventure and experiences. 🌟 #GlobalProsperityU #StudentExperience #Ghana
