It’s official. The Winter Olympics are coming back to Utah! The Ogden area showed up strong in 2002 by creating a volunteer base that proved to be vital in getting the games over the finish line, and by hosting events at Snowbasin and the Weber County Ice Sheet. We are SO excited for 2034 and what it means for our area and for all of the downhill events that will be taking place at Snowbasin!

The Utah Tourism Hall of Fame is presented by the Utah Tourism Industry Association and the Utah Office of Tourism. Recipients are nominated by their peers and selected annually for contributions made to Utah’s tourism industry at the state, regional, or local levels. The Hall of Fame was first introduced in 1985 and has annually recognized individuals who have elevated life in Utah through their leadership in tourism marketing, stewardship, and destination management. Nominations will be reviewed and a final selection will be made by July 1st. Nominees will be recognized at the 2024 Utah Tourism Conference in Layton at the Davis Conference Center during an award breakfast on Friday, September 27th. The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) has released economic data for 2022 exhibiting outdoor recreation’s powerful and positive economic impact on the U.S. economy. The outdoor recreation economy in Utah grew an impressive 32.8% from 2021 to 2022, according to the BEA Outdoor Recreation Satellite Account. This year’s report shows that outdoor recreation creates $8.1 billion in value-added for Utah, accounts for 3.2% of Utah’s GDP and includes 71,677 jobs. This is the largest recorded measure for Utah since the BEA started calculating the size of the outdoor recreation economy in 2012. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gb6hGTdU
