This week we celebrated UVA Health Week! Coinciding with National Hospital Week, it served as a chance to acknowledge and celebrate the invaluable contributions of our team members.

UVA Health today announced plans to acquire Piedmont Family Practice, a Warrenton-based family medicine clinic serving the area since 1993. The two organizations completed a purchase sale agreement and expect to complete the transaction later this summer. "The Piedmont Family Practice team is a well-known, high-quality group of care providers with a long-standing commitment to serving the community," said UVA Community Health CEO Erik Shannon. "This partnership provides both Piedmont Family Practice and UVA Health an opportunity to benefit from each organization’s best practices as we strive for excellence in our primary care offering."

Congratulations to Jaryd Fraser, RN, on receiving the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses from the The DAISY Foundation Amy Clark, respiratory therapist, UVA Health Culpeper Medical Center, was on the team with Jaryd taking care of a patient who was influenced by an unknown substance. “Jaryd was very quick on her feet to help the patient gather up the physician and other staff to administer Narcan to the patient. Jaryd did this while teaching a new nurse," said Amy. After the patient received treatment and was back to being alert, Jaryd had a conversation with the patient about what he was feeling and ways that the health system could help him.
