Earlier this morning, a global IT system failure impacted many industries and businesses across the country. Valley Health experienced select system issues, and our IT teams worked diligently to bring applications back online. All patient appointments and procedures were able to proceed as scheduled, and we are happy to report that most systems at Valley Health are now fully operational. While many other industries and organizations were challenged today, Valley Health was able to continue providing uninterrupted care for patients in our community. Thank you to our dedicated care team for their commitment to delivering safe, effective, uninterrupted care for patients, no matter the obstacles.

Dr. Emmanuel Ekanem, a cardiac electrophysiologist with Winchester Cardiology and Vascular Medicine | Valley Health, was the lead investigator in groundbreaking clinical research surrounding the study of pulsed field ablation in patients with atrial fibrillation (AFib). He is the lead author of a new paper, published today in the prestigious journal Nature Medicine, entitled 'Safety of pulsed field ablation in more than 17,000 patients with atrial fibrillation in the MANIFEST-17K study.' This study has significant implications for the newly FDA approved nonthermal ablation technology, which utilizes ultrarapid electrical pulses with preferentiality for myocardial tissue to treat AFib. This innovative new technology reduces the risk of injury to surrounding cardiac tissue and procedure times. Dr. Ekanem and global colleagues across Europe played an important part in establishing the safety profile for this new technology. Congratulations to Dr. Ekanem on this important publication!
