Two weeks ago, we held our 3rd Annual VamosVentures Founder Summit in San Francisco, CA. We were generously hosted by our friends at Finix and Google 🌉 This year’s summit theme was Leadership: Gains, Grace, and Grit. Our programming included a workshop led by Stanford University Graduate School of Business facilitators on the Harmony of Success + Wellbeing and masterful sessions led by the Google School for Leaders, Costanoa Ventures, and AI experts at TPG, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Gradient Ventures. We were also grateful to have a candid conversation about leadership with Lisa Cohen Gevelber, Google’s Chief Marketing Officer for the Americas Region, Founder of Grow with Google, and Leader of Google for Startups. We look forward to our Founder Summit every year because magic happens when our portfolio founders all come together. It is incredibly inspiring to see firsthand the power that diversity brings to the worlds of entrepreneurship and venture capital. We had such a great time during TechChicago Week in July! Along with meeting new founders and investors 1:1, VamosVentures hosted a Friends & Family Happy Hour with Cleveland Avenue, Chicago:Blend, J.P. Morgan, Deloitte, and CDW. We brought together 100+ founders, investors, operators, and ecosystem champions to spark friendship and knowledge sharing. Impressed with All Raise's data-rich annual report. Excellent insights into the state of parity in venture, and an intimate look at what women and nonbinary VCs need to be successful. The industry is headed in the right direction - and there's more work to do!
This year has been monumental for All Raise, and our CEO Paige Hendrix Buckner is eager to share our collective progress! Here are some takeaways: 1️⃣ We’re trending in the right direction and outpacing the expected time to achieve our goals. The proportion of women decision-makers in VC firms has nearly doubled to 17.4%! (For firms with $50M AUM or greater) 2️⃣ Diversity leads to triumph! Research confirms that diverse teams yield better returns. As noted by Harvard Business Review, venture capital firms that increased their proportion of female partner hires by 10% saw, on average, a 1.5% spike in overall fund returns each year and had 9.7% more profitable exits. 3️⃣ Male allyship is essential. Our community survey reveals that 98% of respondents acknowledge the positive impact of male allies in hiring, funding, and mentorship endeavors. As a collective, we can rewire the industry from the inside. We've made substantial progress, but we still have much work ahead. We are deeply grateful to our team, volunteers, and Board members for their steadfast commitment.
