According to a report by Tomasz Tunguz, between early 2022 and 2023, the average startup saw a 24% jump in their sales cycle length, with the average sales cycle increasing from 65 to 75 days. For B2B startups focused on #enterprise customers, the jump was even larger at 36%. One-third of that cohort saw a 50%+ increase in sales cycle length. As the average time to close increases in length, it is vital that startups decrease internal friction around quoting and pricing. That requires a concerted effort to align #revops, #finance, and #sales around #SaaSpricing and discounting. Our customers leverage Vendori's powerful guided selling features to set pricing rules, create approval workflows, and to maximize sales & #quoting velocity. Reach out to learn more over a demo.

An often overlooked aspect of #B2B #SaaS #sales is deal structuring. A multifaceted process that requires careful consideration of various components, by understanding and effectively managing key elements, companies can create compelling offers that meet customer needs, ensure compliance, and optimize revenue. These components include: 💰 Invoicing terms: Specify how and when a customer should make payments for the services provided. ➖ Discounting: Reducing the standard price for various reasons, such as encouraging bulk purchases or long-term commitments. 🤝 Pricing models: Define how customers are charged for SaaS services. For example a subscription model or consumption (usage) based model. Vendori manages and handles B2B SaaS deal structuring via a #nocode #CPQ platform so your team can focus on end customers rather than internal negotiations.

In the #B2B #SaaS sector, managing complex sales processes efficiently is critical for success. One essential component is the approval workflow, which ensures that proposals, pricing, and discounts align with company policies and customer expectations. A few pain points we typically come across include: 📈 Scalability Issues: Growing businesses struggle to manage increased approval requests without additional resources. ✅ Approval Workflow Bottlenecks: Ensuring proposals, pricing, and discounts align with company policies. 🔧 Manual Effort: Traditional systems often require extensive manual input and lack automation, leading to inefficiencies. If you are looking to better understand and streamline approvals within your organization, please reach out to the Vendori team!

At Vendori we work with various teams within #B2BSaaS organizations. A crucial behind-the-scenes player often goes unnoticed: the deal desk team. A deal desk team is a specialized group within a SaaS company responsible for managing the pricing, terms, and structure of deals to maximize revenue while mitigating risks. Key responsibilities include: 🖇 Deal Structuring and Pricing: Structure deals in a way that maximizes revenue while aligning with the company's pricing strategy and financial objectives ✅ Deal Review and Approval: Evaluate deal terms, assess revenue implications, and seek necessary approvals from stakeholders, such as sales leadership, finance, and legal teams, before finalizing contracts. 💲 Deal Analysis and Reporting: Analyze deal performance, track key metrics, and generate insights to inform future deal strategies and pricing decisions (e.g., win rates, deal velocity, average deal size...) Founder @ Vendori. We're hiring!

When I first started working on Vendori I spoke with Greg Head about common mistakes he sees and where other founders have struggled. My reply? “Our team has decades of experience operating and executing in the industry so I suspect we’ll be able to avoid most of those.” There was a brief pause and then a slight chuckle. A gracious reply to a cringe-worthy comment. Fast-forward two years and I can proudly say we’ve stumbled into almost all of the pitfalls I’d dismissed years ago. At Vendori we are masters… at making mistakes. Thankfully we’re also masters at adapting, learning, and overcoming. Our biggest lessons? Listen to customers, teammates and advisors actively, be disciplined in process and execution, and don’t get caught up in delusions of grandeur. Below are a few of the major (predictable!) mistakes that have cost us time and resources: 🚀 Thinking there was a “magic accelerator” (new feature, website, marketing content, etc.) that would launch us into success - there is not. ⏰ Underestimating the time and cost to build a complex enterprise software solution - it is hard and expensive. 🙊 Generating ideas from internal discussions and past experience vs. external market discovery - find tomorrow's problems. 📊 Spending too much, too early on corporate infrastructure (systems / platforms, legal fees, overly-complex processes) - focus on building and GTM. Ditch the hubris. Embrace the journey. I wonder what mistakes I’ll be writing about next year...
