The Consulat général de France à Boston and the Office for Science and Technology at the Embassy of France, in partnership with Tufts University and Ventum Biotech co-organized, on April 10, 2024, a French American Innovation Day on “Emerging Infectious Diseases and Response”, bringing together experts from academia, government and industry coming from both France and the United States . Designed to foster bilateral scientific collaboration and public-private partnerships in this field, this event convened representatives from Tufts University, Boston University, Ventum Biotech, Ginkgo Bioworks, Inc., Moderna, the PREZODE Initiative, the Pasteur Institute, the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research(Inserm) and its private subsidiary Inserm Transfert, the French National funding Agency on Emerging Infectious Diseases (ANRS Maladies infectieuses émergentes-MIE) and the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS - Centre national de la recherche scientifique), for an insightful and captivating conference on how to prevent, detect and respond to emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases. We would like to express our gratitude to Caroline Genco for hosting this event in such a prestigious venue and to all the team at Tufts University and Tufts University School of Medicine for their gracious hospitality and unwavering support throughout the event. The 2024 French American Innovation Day concluded successfully! The pivotal theme of "#EmergingInfectiousDiseases and Response" brought together leaders from academia, industry, and government to foster collaboration both within and between nations. It was a privilege to host this event in partnership with Tufts University and the Office for Science and Technology of the Embassy of France in the United States. Special appreciation goes out to #TeamFrance for their active participation in Boston, contributing to the enhancement of French-American cooperation. We extend our gratitude to esteemed organizations such as Institut Pasteur, Inserm Transfert, ANRS, and Université de Bordeaux. Throughout the event, we had the privilege of hearing insights from distinguished leaders in various fields, covering topics including biosurveillance and response, the significance of BSL3/4 infrastructures, antibiotic resistance, technology platforms for vaccine development, the science of hygiene and decontamination, and more –concluding with a roundtable discussion facilitating the exchange of ideas on #Research and #Innovation.
